Didnt think she was shot for wanting to learn, I thought it was because she wrote a blog about living under the Taliban, that subsequently won her an award, and some idiot released her name...if it was just wanting to learn, there would be a lot more dead girls...

Its horrible, but then again, its not my country... horrible things happen in loads of countries that we dont worry about ..What should we do about it, other than protest to the governement there, who have been fighting these people anyway for years?

They will feel right at home.

Btw like your avatar. So after nearly 10 years on this site you finally worked out how to create one? That's progress.

to be fair, my education was stunted by the Rusthall Evangelical Church forcing my education underground.

Oh that makes it alright then thanks.

Where did I say it was alright? I said it was horrible...and what solution could there be, as the army there has been fighting the Taliban for years. So, what do you suggest?

I suggest that 14 year old girls who want to go to school should not be shot in the head.

Wow, youre the only one with that sort of reasoning!!!

Yet you decide to concentrate on my thread title not adequately summing up a horrendous 3yr ordeal accurately. But hey it's not your country after all right?

Although under the Taliban woman are forbidden an education. It makes you think how lucky we are that we live in the country we do. We moan, but it could be worse.

A little condemnation might help !!

Why do you seem so dispassionate when discussing the apparent despicable conduct of anyone other than white or western.

It really does seem that way, its a kinda of reverse racism/prejudice with you.

C'mon get stuck into the Taliban just as you would with the USA or UK, we require consistency from you.

Im no fan of the Taliban...we know what they are capable of..we know they are from a completely different planet to us...but, in the valleys of Pakistan, and Afghanistan, they will always hold sway...im no fan of any extremists, but what should I do about it? When NATO leaves Afghanistan, the Taliban will take control after they win the civil war... then real problems with Pakistan will loom... I said it was horrible...what sort of condemnation do you want? Will being particularly outraged on NSC help much?

im asking you, so, what should we do about it exactly?

Do about what? The Taliban? Womens rights in Islamic countries? Our military involvement in the middle east? Or a little girl getting shot for standing up for her rights? You need to be more specific as I am leaving the office in 4 minutes..

My point, is...how the hell do you stop it?... we are all outraged about it....
No that wasn't your point really was it? If so it was very badly put. From my reading of your post your point (apart from splitting hairs) was that horrible things happen in lots of foreign countries and we don't give a toss about them, so why are we so outraged about one girl?
