Just got in having spent basically the whole afternoon and evening on the lash in our close.....drifting from from house to house and having a great time chatting to, and drinking with neighbours. Literally everyone had put out a few chairs at least 2m apart on their front gardens, and had no...
Lockdown to me appears to be pretty well observed. There will always be those flouting it, but even a 90-95% adherence is remarkable, and the 5-10% flouting hasn’t been enough to stop it working.
There are a couple of factors for me that stand out way above everything else - lockdown was too...
Agreed. Supermarkets aside, haven’t seen ANYONE not respecting social distancing in the last few weeks. The vast majority are compliant - let them loose in the parks and on the beaches with the same rules and it won’t change much. It’s mostly self-policing
Don’t think anyone has said that - the handling isn’t at either end of the perfect/shit spectrum, your ‘blood on their hands’ type comment is about the closest thing I’ve seen to that.
Nailed it - the country by country comparisons are so variable.................the figures I think we should be primarily focused on are the actual trending numbers - no. of new positive tests, no. of people hospitalised and in ITU and confirmed deaths by actual date of death. I went to an event...
I know, and that looks more positive.........but we really need a reliable, easily used home kit that can be rolled out to the masses in the millions. The results from different countries vary widely though - have seen some reports indicating perhaps high 30s % showing signs, and others as low...
Ok - if you're under 40 are you one of those happy to take the risk of 'almost certainly not' ?
How do you maintain social distancing to the levels necessary to get R below 1 without lockdown ?? We sort of tried that in the few days before lockdown - look at what happened on the tube, parks...
People from either side will use anything to reinforce their own (political) viewpoint (as you have) - but an admin turning off comments smacks of 'unless you agree with my views you can't comment' which is pretty cowardly.
Exactly this I suspect - maybe things like OK to visit family at home, more use of open spaces allowed (not just 'exercise'.....but obviously maintaining distancing - of course, it'll now piss down with rain for days on end anyway), more shops open (with 2m queuing, limited numbers etc).
Thought he was pretty good this morning too........infinitely better than the lackeys who have been standing in for him anyway (damning with faint praise perhaps ). Probably needs to start communicating lockdown exit plans soon - suspect we'll see a drip-feeding of this into the press...
Thanks......bit beyond my understanding. If anyone wants to listen in to the often tedious ramblings I have to put up with at work then good luck to them. Zoom has clearly passed our internal geek squad requirements......
