I don’t think it’s even a thing really , but yes was around under Hughton

    [Football] Potter [NOT] at Chelsea

No one on here has been involved in a football transfer or even played the game professionally but it doesn’t stop people writing about both subjects all day on here 😂

He seemed happy enough to be at Stamford Bridge in the directors box with Boehly & co, and allegedly met up with Potter after as well. Be great if he doesn’t but I suspect Chelsea have big plans for him

Perhaps there’s early release / settlement fees or something. Everyone is guessing because hardly anyone has seen the contents of these new Chelsea contracts. Long contracts are common in NFL etc aren’t they ? How do they handle it

I’d be unhappy as I would have been more Ambitious than where we were 8 years ago. But Chelsea are still a European football club at some level at least. You do know you can sell players, its rare they get sold even on shorter deals - see Bissouma.

It’s funny isn’t it. They’re not ‘getting around’ anything, 2 years ago they made a £35M profit, they do well selling players more so than any other top 6 club so makes sense. I’m not sure why 3 or 4 year contracts were a thing so not surprised a non football person has come in and bucked the...

It’s said to be their strategy now, mainly to protect investment. Cucurella was 6 years I think

That’s just making up a story based on an obvious observation. Or maybe it’s true and Caicedo, Mac etc will all remain at the club for a long time because RDZ is so good

What ? His downfall ? Their beloved Tuchel signed him seemingly for sone odd reason. There’s a reason Arteta got rid

Indeed. But it’s the same argument as leasing / renting vs buying a car I guess

It’s not that mental really - no different to a £80M player on a 4 year deal. Same maths / accounting
