Your last sentence is the problem. No one on here underrates Veltman. They underrate Lamptey. And those of us defending Lamptey are seen to be having a go at Veltman at his expense when that couldn’t be further from the truth. I think Veltman is an excellent player who’s a phenomenal defender...
We don’t have many games at the moment so you’d hope he would. It’ll be interesting to see if he keeps with this philosophy if we progress and the games mount up.
This is the problem with people on here - they deal in absolutes. I don’t think there’s a single Albion fan who thinks Veltman is rubbish. He’s an excellent player. But he’s substantially worse offensively than Lamptey. Conversely, Lamptey, who is much derided on here by a large number of our...
He’s one that would be devastating in the right system in the Premier League. As his all round game improves he’ll start to suit our system more and more, I’m sure, he’s just better suited to a counter attacking side at present.
There’s a serious player in there though.
Amazing how many our age have this story.
For me, the big team was like my first fumble. It happened, but my heart wasn’t really in it, although I did give it a good go, often with the beer goggles on.
I grew up in the 90s in Sussex, albeit not in Brighton. At the time, because I disliked Man Utd so much because everyone I knew at school supported them because they were winning everything, I picked a big club to support who were challenging them.
Because I was playing football to a decent...
A couple of the papers are left leaning, but such news outlets are becoming more and more obsolete as social media and specific TV channels dominate much of the news output. Almost none of the big media channels are left leaning, such as Sky, nor are social platforms like X and there’s reams of...
Stories about freezing pensioners have been happening every year for my entire life. And having a right wing owned media will only exacerbate that narrative.
As for the mortgage payers… do you remember Liz Truss?
I’ve said “well what about all of the other sports mentioned?” and I stand by that.
Ultimately most golf courses have trees. That alone makes them more environmentally friendly than most sports.
It’s no different to having a well kept football, cricket or rugby pitch, except that’s there’s...
Hey, if you want to go about playing your sport whilst others are trying to get to work, then a sore scrotum seems like a fair trade 🥳
(obviously this is all playful. I’m sure not everyone who cycles is a self obsessed twat with a ravaged scrotum).
The problem with cycling isn’t the sport, it’s the people. I feel about cyclists, as many on here apparently feel about golfers.
The main difference is that only one of those groups is negatively impacting everyone else’s’ ability to go about their day.
