Bummer is it used to work OK before last season.
Since Hereford I had gone from almost inaudible BBC World Service scores at the end of the day (if lucky) to live commentary and video highlights. Now it's going backward, 'cos I have to rely on text commentary and NSC with no video!
Used to be this way, but it changed about 2 years ago to an IFK. Lot's of refs are still getting it wrong. I'm a ref instructor and we've been told to hammer this in our recertification classes (over here at least).
Pros and cons of living anywhere, imho. Hate country and just ignore it, but most people here are more friendly and helpful than anywhere else I've been in the US (or UK!)

Refs are taught to take into account the 'spirit' of the Laws in cases like this - especially in kids' games. This Law is there to prevent time-wasting by the keeper. Your lad's case was clearly not this, but...
