They aren't going to get kicked out. As funny as that would be, I think it would be unfair to expect them to have sorted out their ownership situation on March 1st, when they were still playing in the fifth round of the FA cup.

I'm not saying they shouldn't sort out their ownership situation, but the deadline was unreasonable.

I would imagine every club knows the rules before entering the competition at the start of the season, is it laziness not sorting it out before, surely you enter a competition with the possibility of winning especially if you are a Premier League team. The rules are there for a reason with time restrictions for a reason. if you are in the 5th round and there is a possibility this issue could arise, why not act then.
Although I personally think they should play in Europe, rules is rules and if you can't be arsed sorting your shite out, then maybe you don't deserve leniency.

But Uncle Tony reduced his shareholding in USG before a deadline and the Notts Forest owner set up a blind trust before a deadline also.

exactly, what was stopping them lot up the road sorting out, something they do not want folks to know or just plain incompetence ?

Why would Forest do that? Surely if Palace can't play in Europe, their spot does to 7th and the ECL spot goes to 8th so Forest get the EL anyway?
They wouldn't be banned from playing in Europe, they just wouldn't be allowed to compete in the same competition as Lyon.

So if they were found to be in breach, they would likely get demoted to the Conference.

I doubt it would mean Forest get promoted to the Europa League.

In either scenario, 8th still wouldn't qualify for Europe.

And probably go on and win that, not such a bad outcome.

You don’t know that for certain. The multi club ownership rule was always any UEFA competition it didn’t matter if the teams were in different cups.

This was to cover teams dropping into different competitions at various stages of the season.

Now that teams no longer drop into a lower competition at the end of the league stage rules may have changed. However as teams can still go from Champions League to Europa League to Conference League during the qualification rounds then there is still the need to have the original rules in place. A caveat for clubs that qualify for the League stage automatically could be amended into the rules but nothing I can find online states this. There was no rule that allowed the lower ranked club to be moved to a different competition.

Under the original rules any clubs in breach of the multi club ownership rules, the highest ranked club in their domestic league would be allowed to compete and the other teams spot would go to the next place in their domestic league entitled to qualify, and subsequent places would filter down the league.

It’s also worth noting that no club has ever been disqualified under multi club ownership rules.

Sounds like it's about time this disgraceful behaviour was brought to task.

So unfortunate that it's Crystal Palace who will suffer, but enough is enough.

Palace fan here. There really is a lot of bitterness/sour grapes on show here and a lot of coping mechanisms in full swing! A lot of posters saying we are a poor side etc. Come on, we are a very decent outfit, we've just won the FA Cup! It is not the fluke you like to think it is, Man City and Villa beaten by us, 2 CL sides this season. I know you guys finished above us but we had a dreadful start due to players coming back from the summer tournaments absolutely knackered and losing Olise and Andersen. Once we got going after 8 games we were very impressive, 12th is not a fair reflection on how good we are. In fact, i'd say only Van Hecke and Baleba would get into our first X1.

After eight games, you were on 3 points, whilst we were on 15.

In the remaining 30 games, during which you claim to have been "very impressive", you managed to reduce that by a mere 4 points to finish 8 behind us. Tthat includes us being very charitable to those less fortunate than ourselves, and gifting you 6 points.

And yet, during your "very impressive" run of 30 games, we suffered the worst injury crisis in the whole Premier League. We often had only two specialist defenders in our back four.

Your assertion simply doesn't stack up.

You improved from your dreadful start, certainly, but that really wasn't hard given how you stunk out the league in the opening couple of months.

I am not bitter, fair play, you can only beat what is front of you on the day.
I still don't understand why you would not sort out the ownership thing though with the prospect of Europe on the horizon.
genuine question is that a power play thing going on behind the scenes by those in charge ?

If what you say is correct, and NINE of your starting eleven, are better than their Albion counter-parts, what is your explanation for your largely settled team finishing 4 places and 8 points adrift of us? Are you suggesting that your manager is shit / massively underperforming?

So in the last 30 games, we finished 4 points ahead of you. Once we got going etc. And we also won the FA Cup whilst you didn't. We also beat you twice this season, 5-2 on aggregate. There was nothing charitable about the Selhurst win, we hd 9 men at one point in the game and still won! I think my point stands, we are a better side than you given the above, the facts speak for themselves!

You've chosen to use your best 30 games of a 38 game season.
