I don't believe this for one second. I may not always have believed in Potter but I think Bloom has.

We only hear from Barber (about how wonderful everything is with the club) while Tony has been in Australia until fairly recently. Quite possible that Tony's been disappointed with the results and finding ourselves in a relegation battle when worse sides on paper than us (Palace, Saints) as well as newly promoted Leeds have barely had to look over their shoulder all season.

Quite possible GPot has had a bit of a kick up the arse since Tony has been back and reminded him that it's no longer acceptable to be hovering around the relegation zone. Now we're nearly safe we need to kick on next year rather than hide behind the 'results haven't been what we deserve' line.

Doubt it's much more than that though, the headline seems a bit sensationalist/ridiculous

Maybe your right. Although I thought it was true, I don't understand the idea Tony is OK with being relegated. it goes against everything I thought of him, after all hes the one who wanted Mark McGhee sacked after we were relegated from the Championship.

Exactly. Bloom has a ruthless streak. If that article had been angled "Bloom has told Graham Potter he won't accept another relegation battle next Season" i genuinely don't think anyone could grumble about it. I'm sure there's private disappointment with how this season has gone whatever Barber might suggest.

It's the stupid headline that's made a mountain out of a molehill, classic Daily Mail.

If I were GP I'd want a bit of an inquiry from all the staff and analysts about why results weren't what was expected, don't think I'd need the top man to ask for it. If I were TB, I'd want to sit down and pretty much go through tactics and preparations game by game. What worked, what didn't, what was done differently, what could have been done, what wasn't done. What personal failures does GP think he made, what failures in the playing staff etc. etc. Surely a completely normal expected process at the end of a season for any progressive forward looking management team?

Can't imagine GP would be strolling in thinking TB is happy with how everything has gone. There are successes here and there, but it's not kicked on as it could have.

Still 9 games left though, rack up a decent points haul and the meeting might have a different air to it than if we only pick up 5 or 6 from here.

Oh dear. Maybe Leeds aren’t the only ones with deluded fans.

[tweet]1375783694762409995[/tweet]
That would be Leeds who are out performing us in their first season in the Prem despite us having their best player from last season?

I don't think it necessarily makes supporters 'deluded' if they don't think Potter is up to it after flirting with relegation and barely winning any home games over a 2 year period ?

Sorry, where did I comment on Leeds performance in the league? Nothing wrong with the team. Some fans are a bit funny with the whole “we made Ben White”, “Brighton didn’t know who he was”, “he’s Leeds through and through”. All that silliness. I don’t recall questioning the teams league performance who have done well.

Covid has impacted nearly every teams home record. It’s a statistical anomaly people use to criticise the manager. And overlooks all of the good positive trends the manager is building with our club.

So where do you think we should be in the league then?

Somewhere between 10th and 12th on paper but we've been very naive at times defensively and in front of goal and the results haven't been there. That's why I'm not sure what has created a culture on here/twitter that anyone who criticises Potter is talking out of their arse. Our performances have been decent but results have been lacking.

Hopefully we'll finish the season well to build for next season and hopefully our fans will be a bit more level-headed - we don't have an idiot in charge but nor do we have a complete genius either.

Apparently we have the best squad we have ever had (probably true) are we any further up the table than the last three seasons probably not  so no improvement in three seasons position wise Mr Bloom rightfully won’t be all smiles.

The word on everyone’s lips is we just need a goal scorer and so does everyone else kicking around the bottom half so that’s not really an excuse either.

Infuriating isn't it.

"Blimey GPott's decent, rein it in a bit".
"You know nothing, licker".

"Blimey GPott's not the Messiah, 2 years of bottom 6 football".
"You know nothing, hater".

Either way you know 'wrong' posts are being stockpiled ready for the :bounce: dependent on the score at Old Trafford.

Rubbish, we were the only professional team in England not to win in 2020 before Covid paused the league. Perhaps there are some people who overlook the few negatives of the manager in our club.

Damn right. It's becoming like our very own Brexit.

So in your eyes if Potter doesn’t get us 10th-12th this season he’s doing a poor job. Despite us having a bottom 4 wage budget. Regardless of the changes he’s implementing across the club, blooding of exciting young talent and changing the way we play.

Thank goodness those in charge at the club have a more balanced and nuanced view.

So you think Potter should be sacked?

No, I think our form in 2021 says he should stay, I think his form in 2020 was awful. Even he says it wasn't good enough. We were on a 10 game winless run before Covid took hold.

A tremendously polarising and naive perspective. I see you didn’t respond to the posters further up who picked you up on a few things saying similar.

What’s created the culture on here is not criticism, but definitively calling for him to be sacked - 2 different things I feel.

If the argument is reduced to a binary one, then the result will be either backing him or sacking him.

Some people like the binary argument, revel in it, satirise it even. Doesn’t really help though.

Personally, as in the OP, I’m backing him but he isn’t without mistakes and failures as already stated. They’re on a scale where I’m sure there will be a big review of what can be improved, but there’s been enough evidence to see the direction those improvements can take us.

I get the feeling some people want him sacked simply because they don’t like the look of him or his mannerisms. When the argument gets down to that level, it’s not really worth acknowledging.
