I write this with a genuine question, but worry that it appears confrontational - it genuinely isn't! My perception from a (small) number of posts that I think I have read on various threads is that you are specifically sceptical of Dan Ashworth and his role. I think you might have suggested, or I have interpreted that GP is almost told that player x and y must play -possibly Ben White for example? I just wonder what it is that tells you that?
On the face of it that might appear concerning if GP would make different decisions but has his hands tied on who plays when. Although it could also be that the senior members of the Club, including GP agree on which players have the potential to create profit and agree a strategy to make that happen - 1st XI playing time, loans etc. May be way off with the perception, but interested to know what irks you about Ashworth and his role ?

Not looking to press you but your comments register with me because I read your posts with interest because on the topic of players and recruitment you have well grounded views, that I have valued or agreed with. I truly wish we had a striker tucking away some of these chances.

But life’s too short to get hot under the collar about it, especially days after the last game.

I think everyone gets it - just that some people don't require the world to be so totally binary (no names, no pack drill, but you'll probably recognise some of them if they wade in!)
We have strikers who cannot hit a cow's arse with a banjo. We know that. It's a problem that needs to be addressed.

We have midfielders who, although they run the midfield rather well most of the time, also cannot hit a cow's arse with a banjo. This is also a problem - and it's not a binary choice, both problems can exist at the same time.

If Bissouma, Gross, MacAllister, Lallana and March had all chipped in with three or four goals each, we would in my estimation be a comfortable five or more places higher up the league. We would still have strikers who can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo, and that would still need to be addressed, but we wouldn't have the same gnashing of teeth, weeping and wailing and toys-out-of-the-pram throwing that some like to indulge in.

Unfortunately £20 million will not buy a PL striker. It will by a striker who MAY score goes in the PL but if you are looking to buy anybody who has recently scored a good number of goals in the PL expect to pay £50million plus and £120k a week plus.

IF we did want to sell Maupay clubs would take a punt on him at £20 million (what we paid) for sure.

The point stands that you can buy a proven PL scorer for £20m.

You make some valid points in terms of wages, age and injury record. But he has scored a goal every other game in a poor Newcastle team. If he was in our team, I suspect we would be safe by now.
