Very impressive by Varadkar. He makes the point, ignored by many, that No Deal is not an end point. Its just a delayed deal, coming from a weaker negotiating position with a lot of added chaos and financial harm.

You wouldn't have thought people would need telling, and yet...

Shame he didn't fulfil his role with sufficient gravitas to think that showing such a sticker might undermine his credibility somewhat in a position supposed to that of 'neutral'.

It is his wifes car, he has no right to tell her what to do, or what not to do does he?
Are you people seeking an authoritarian regime for the country, and the man rules the household?

Tories to stand against Speaker John Bercow at next election, Leadsom says

.... just another member of the remain alliance running away from an election? Obviously, he is set for life doing the rounds on the Islington/Hampstead/Brighton dinner party set

He was going to stand down in August, having promised his wife at the beginning of the year, he would go. He has been the Speaker for ten years, having been re-elected three times, so that is enough for any one person.

His wife is entitled to her opinion regardless of his job. Chauvinism rules eh?

Indeed. The phrase 'clean break' is pure, and deliberate, spin. A no deal brexit would be very messy, and would mean the whole rigmarole will continue for years, maybe decades.

A point made well in this article: https://www.independent.co.uk/voice...it-brexit-boris-johnson-no-deal-a9096526.html

'Brexit is not an event. It is a process. And the tunnel is long. With no light in sight'

This is going to be one of the most powerful arguments on brexit in any election: if you have 'had enough and just want it done' then a no-deal brexit is the worst possible option for you. That will, eventually, sink in, despite Farage and Johnsons deseprate efforts.

And she is very very much her own person as recent history has proved, a silly cow granted, but we are yet again expecting the leavers to know and understand simple things, it would be easier to pass through the eye of a needle seeing as they are all to a man and woman as thick and ignorant as pig shit.

nothing to be proud or pleased about, that the government would attempt to break (another) protocol to steamroller their way. though no fan of Bercow or the way he has been overtly political and personal, he has executed his role to support the right of Parliament to hold the government to account.

Worthing
Tom Tugendhat, Tory Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commitee, has asked Dominic Raab to explain how we would trade on WTO terms in event of a no deal Brexit, when there are ‘inherent flaws ‘ and even the Leader of the organisation admits is ‘struggling with legitimacy ‘.
He asks why we would join a regime that, ( to quote) “would force UK businesses and supply chains to adapt to a new and substantially less liberal trade and regulatory architecture overnight”

He added that the USAs hostility to the WTO was another cause for concern. America is already refusing to confirm new Judges to the WTOs appeals process, which means unless they have a change of heart(Trump hates the WTO) by December then it will grind to a halt.

Tom Tugendhat is a Brexiteer Member of Parliament, before anyone accuses him of treason, snowflakery, project fear, or any other remainer type surrender.

Leo Varadkar confronts Boris Johnson with withering assessment of his Brexit strategy in strained joint press conference

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-boris-johnson-varadkar-ireland-border-backstop-eu-deal-press-conference-a9097296.html

Britain has so far put forward no alternative proposals for the Irish border which would permit Dublin to give up the backstop, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said, in comments pouring cold water on Boris Johnson’s claims that progress is being made towards a Brexit deal.

Mr Varadkar warned that advocates of a no-deal Brexit were wrong to suggest it would amount to a “clean break”.“In my view, the story of Brexit won’t end if the UK leaves the European Union on 31 October or even 31 January,” said the Irish premier.

“There’s no such thing as a clean break or ‘just getting it done’. Rather, we will just move on to a new phase. “If there is no deal, it will cause severe disruption for British and Irish people alike - not so much on the continent.”

And he told Mr Johnson: “Whatever happens, we will have to get back to the negotiating table quite quickly and when we do the first items on the agenda will be citizens’ rights, the financial settlement and the Irish border - all issues which we had resolved in the withdrawal agreement reached by your predecessor.”

So Johnson has done nothing absolutely nothing towards negotiating this 'Good deal', which he (along with a number of others) has always claimed is his preference

Meanwhile, it takes the Irish Taoiseach to point out that the longest, most arduous way to conclude Brexit is by starting the next phase (the trade negotiations that we have to undertake) in the weakest possible negotiating position of 'No deal' and nothing in place whatsoever :facepalm:

FFS even JRM admitted 'no deal' could take 50 years :facepalm::facepalm:

Is there a point at which it would be reasonable to conclude that people who still want a 'no deal' may be a teensy weensy bit thick ?

(Asking for a friend ?) :shootself
