we had identified a group of players and had a plan b&c if plan a failed,
I'm happy with the quality of players we signed

Your plan A failed, plan B kicked in (desperately signing has-beens and rejects) and plan C involved a Palace Old Boy after Bendtner took one look at your club and said "Phuck this, I'd rather play in Albania". You couldn't even manage to get an old favourite signed up.

What is your plan D? Scouting Sunday League free agents on Hackney Marshes?

As for unsettling Bridcutt-you morons are so delusional it is great entertainment. Now phuck off.

Because this cherub is the poster previously known as Seaside who offered odds on Dougie not going to Bolton and the bet was accepted, Seaside never reappeared.

Perhaps one of the Mod's could do a bit of snooping around to see if the debt-ridden scumbag does indeed post under a different guise?

Dear Mr Holloway, rearrange these two words any way you like: "one" and "do".

I find the whole Palace approach to transfers interesting.

There is a school of thought that the best way is to scout and research players that you think may fit in with the style you are playing/want to play. You monitor them and check out their background and attitude as well as their progression and contract situation and move for them when needed or when their situation provides a good opportunity for you to recruit. This may take years to develop and when a need is identified then you work through this database first and identify a priority list and work this list in the hope that a deal can be done. Failed bids can be enlivened in following seasons if not succesfull. The key to the success is planning, professionalism and confidentiality. This is what Brighton have opted to follow.

Another approach is to write a long list of players that you or your mates have heard of (positions and contract situations are not important at this stage), shout your mouth off about them and hope this is enough to tempt them to join you. A journo fan is quite helpful at this stage. The next stage in this approach is to rapidly ramp up the wages on offer until they accept. This is the Crystal Palace approach.

Lets see how things pan out over the next two years to see which system delivers

A player doesn't have to old to be a has-been. As for Guediora, I'm sure that Forest would not be giving up one of their better players when they are aiming for promotion. Do you?

As for your comment about Bendtner-most Palace fans were wetting themselves in anticipation of him signing. Now it's the same old shite from Palace fans: "We didn't really want him", "Glad we never signed him", "We've dodged a bullet there". You lot are priceless.

Thanks for yesterday's "If you think I'm signing for Palace you can phuck off" entertainment.

Hunt is a very good prospect, could well turn out to be Palace's shrewdest signing. Most smack of let's sign who we can get, which I suppose is inevitable really. Why you didn't make a realistic offer for Bridcutt is beyond me, what were they thinking? Perhaps the fact you let him go when you could have had him for nothing played a part. The fact that Bendtner is not in the same class as he thinks he is does not mean he would have been a bad signing, depending on the money. He is obviously better than any striker you have and by a distance. It did seem rather strange that the alternative appeared to be Andrew Johnson, one assumes that Jerome was the real Plan B or J or Z. Otherwise it's all a bit lacking in strategy isn't it......

Do you have enough to stay up now in your honest opinion?

Well with the team we got promoted with,no chance.
Now with the nucleus of our squad and the new signings a fighting chance .

Is it time for us to address the elephant in the room yet?
If these players were worth the money you have paid, why wasn't anyone else keen on them?
Question to all: Did anyone hear of a transfer this summer involving palace where they beat off competition from ANYONE else?
Seemed like every time a few clubs were interested, the player moved elsewhere and you were stuck paying over-the-odds/for dross that no-one else wanted.

QPR last year springs to mind.
