This thread is weird Das. You are bemoaning 'modern football' and those who follow it, yet you're passing up a night that will be the closest thing to the old nights you yearn for, that we've had in years.

Fair point. Crappy old stadium, mutual disrespect and being treated shabbily by the gendarmes is pretty much the 80s and 90s.

Some people might think this thread a little...odd, especially today of all days. But personally I love the fact that essentially a footballing nervous breakdown gets punctuated by this constant and very polite use of "regards". Lovely little courteous touch, that.

Very best regards. MoH.

What does piss me off is the fact that you have a lot of people at the Amex that never went to the Goldstone, Priestfield or Withdean they support Man Utd, Spurs, Chelski etc
but moan saying they cant afford their prices or they are just too plain lazy to go there every other week , never ever attend Brighton away matches and call themselves "loyal Brighton fans" WTF ?????
And no I'm not on about the new generation of kids and some others ETC supporting Albion thats great to see, you know exactly the sort of people I'm talking about !!!

Guess what YOUR NOT LOYAL FANS !! never have been, never will be !!
Tossers !!:tosser::tosser::tosser::tosser:
If things ever go badly wrong at Brighton (hopefuly they wont, but who knows) these so called fans that are loyal and spend money at Albion will soon disappear by the thousand !!!
Back to armchair viewing of Man Utd and the others.

RANT OVER !!!

Just in the interests of stirring the sh*t a little...

Everyone had a first Albion game once... If the current crop of recently acquired fans "never have been, never will be" loyal fans... how is it that anyone who watched at the Goldstone was able to become a loyal fan.

Yes, success brings extra fans and failure loses them, but every brighton "fan" (regardless of age) goes to their first Brighton match at some point (I'm sure we can agree that if you could but never do go, you're not a fan in anyone's eyes). What makes you the king of f**king fandom just because your first game was at a different stadium than mine?

(Oh, and to answer the inevitable question... My first game was at Withdean, but my first season ticket was at Amex, so I'm scum!)

Is it too simplistic to say that some people go to the Amex just to watch football, regardless of who they support? I've been to Premier League grounds for football and watched top flight rugby without having an allegiance to either side, and had a great time. There is no law to say you have to support the home or away team to be at a game, in the same way you don't have to be the biggest fan of a band to go to one of their gigs.

Take a step back from being a Brighton fan, and think about going to watch a decent game of football that's on your doorstep. What's wrong with people pitching up to do that, and not pledge their life to the seagulls? The dad of a mate of mine is a Spurs fan, and goes to WHL about a dozen times a season, but has got a ST in East Upper and absolutely loves it. What, exactly, is the problem with that?

Hove County Cricket ground gets thousands of spectators - are they all die-hard cricket fans? No, I doubt it. Do they have a good time when they're there? The majority probably do, yes.

Anyway, Fairy boy, enjoy the banter toni... Oh.

I don't get the haterid for the newer fans from the ones who have supported the Albion for years and seen the club through rough times. I am 19, only followed the club for about 3 years and don't have a ST. I have been to more away games this season then home ones. Does that make me a bad fan? But do I still care about the club?

I don't get why some people don't want people putting their hard earned money into the club and supporting a team that we all love. Why is that such a bad thing? Just think, everyone on here were once a new fan, even if it was 40 years ago 'on a cold and windy night against Aldershot at the Goldstone.'

Sensible mature post, well done young man!!

Hmmmm! For goodness sake, being a fan should not be competative! The competition should be on the pitch, not I'm more of a fan than you, because I've stood at all of our grounds in the rain and been on my own, living the misery! enjoy the fact we are now full every game with people all wanting the side to do well! Football clubs go through highs and lows of success and the fan base will do so likewise, live with it!
As for the atmosphere I enjoy it, its not the Goldstone North stand, but then I'm not now jammed in either, welcome to the way football is now, get used to it!

JOL-allow me...........i went to the Goldstone with school mates on many occasion,we went to Gillingham sometimes and some went to Withdean on regular occasion,i did not, only a few times, so i applaud those that did....

Now then, here's the point.............we now have the Amex I (was) and 1 of the said friends(still is) close friends with a person(currently) closely connected with the club in an indirect way, this person was never seen with us at the Goldstone, but now claims lifelong supportership? he never went,he was old enough and used to ridicule Brighton and us for going at times.

He supported Man U and still does.......but can be seen every week at the Amex-that's the type the OP is on about..

Sounds like morally bankrupt individual. You should report him to the police and let them take it from there.
