Nope.

He is with us next year. However his wife is British and she is out to have a baby and they are now staying in the UK, so he flips over to a UK player as he will not be playing State Cricket down under.

Wrong, he is overseas next year.
Although his wife is English, he has to live here for three years to be non overseas, so I think 2015 before he is English qualified.

No.

The qualification to play for England is what you are referring to.

Like Ryan Harris, he is entitled to a UK passport, in his case through marriage, which will mean he is not classed as an overseas player.

Doesn't sound as though the drinking has stopped. Hammered in Town.

Still probably worth a punt...

he only gets a work permit as his wife has a Uk passport. This makes him an OS however if his wife were Danish he would not be overseas

After 3 years of living here with his wife Mags can apply for a UK passport so I think by 2015 he would not be OS .

No thank you. The way he left here for Surrey, in the first place. He will never be welcome to back to Hove, the guy went for the Money and Captaincy. He also tried to see if he could get into the England side, by going there. When he had more of chance of getting into it with us. The guy is an pure greedy bastard.

Not sure how much money played a part. The lure of being made captain seems more of a driver. I seem to recall that the family is ratherr well minted as well but what would I know.

At the time Surrey were in Division Two. A lot of teams in that Division, depised the way they went about their Business. They were trying to be the Man City of that League. They offered us a crap sum of money at first. But then they came back with the same amount and the Captaincy issue. We let him decide on it for about two weeks, we even did a Petition to try and keep him here. But what they offered in terms of wages, captaincy and the blantant lie about getting into England side, turned his head and he went. Robbo wasn't very happy and hasn't spoken to him or his family since!

He is a professional cricketer who plays cricket for a living.I cannot see he is a "greedy bastard" for moving to a much more wealthy county to further his career.Would you expect to be denigrated by former colleagues if you left for a better job?

How can Surrey have lied about getting into the England side? It is not as if Grizzly was a selector was he.

Trust me on this. He came here to further his career, he was actually coming on leaps and bounds with us. He was playing and captaining our Under 19s for England. But when he joined Surrey, he didn't get a look in after that.

The most curious thing..
I don't think that leaving one job to get another (better) job elsewhere to try and further his career, means that he deserves to be called "greedy" or a "bastard". If so virtually everyone on this forum is probably similar at one time or another.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
They told him, he would be in the England Lions side in two years. Which never materialized, he was getting looked at with us. But when he joined Surrey, they didn't bother.
Who is "they"?

I have no issues with RHB returning if SCCC want him, but I don't think he is a good enough batsman to make up for the current overall lack of class after Goodwin lost form and his contract. We need someone like Mushtaq, Godwin, Trescothick or Rampracash - good enough the play internationally but not actually playing for an international side - but they are very rare.

Tosh. he was offered a deal by us and a deal by them. he chose theirs, which is hardly a shock as it came with added captaincy and was offered by Adams flying out to South Africa to sign him before we could., and I would not be suprised that surry offered much more money than us. Added to which his dad is a HUGE surrey supporter.

Quality batsmen like him are thin on the ground right now. I'd snap him up if he was interested but I suspect he wants to make a clean break and a fresh start in new surroundings after the Maynard business
