Just come in and reading this thread leaves me somewhat dismayed. As you can see I am a so called newbie on here and have taken stick from some of the guys in here for also daring to post a few threads. I am also a new member of the Seagulls over Burwash group. These guys are doing great work not just trying to get new recruits to the Seagulls arranging coaches and transport but also fostering and encouraging participation by the Seagulls in our local schools and youth groups etc. Frankly they need all the support they can get and I think sometimes the attitudes demonstrated in here today are somewhat distorted and stink. I am not suprised they want to leave. No doubt some will climb out the wood work and suggest that newbies like me are not really welcome in here either and should follow suit. (unless of course I have accummulated more than a 1000 threads). For the record I have been an avid Seagull supporter since 1989. I have not been a STH as couldnt handle the open sky over Withdean. Has this made me less of a fan - nope not at all in fact I would say to the contrary. Also for the record I have become a 1901 member and have seat in the East Stand. I am looking very much forward to being part of a huge supporter group filling the Amex week in and week out. Thats what we all want. So guys time to give some slack here and recognise that there are groups Like Seagulls over Burwash that need our help and support. Someone needs to sort this out.

I can see what you're saying but some people really need to grow a thicker skin.

This has all come from a very simple wind up, that wasn't even aimed at burrish-gull or his supporters club. It was aimed at the people who have been posting on other threads all day today about JCLs taking season tickets, burrish-gull mentioned about new fans getting season tickets and you could see what was coming from a mile off. A mod quickly changed the thread title to mention JCLs (a parody of about 5 threads on the front page at the time) burrish-gull took great offence and the rest is history.

I've noticed quite a few new posters can't take the banter, I don't know if it's an age thing or an internet thing but you need to accept that at some point you'll have the piss taken out of you or be shouted down, it's just the way it is. Every community has a social structure, the better your contribution the more you'll be taken seriously.

Quite true and as a good example of a contribution to the local community, let's all take village supporters clubs seriously too.

Indeed and I think people are, I've not seen any dissent towards these clubs. Burwash, Mid sussex, horsham if it gets started and the other one they're talking about will all be great news for supporters in those areas who want to get involved in something.

Agreed but that's just the way of the world I'm afraid.

Sheebs.....this is not the point at all. I am so glad that he has organised and got a load of new fans to the cause, I really am!!. What my selfish point is , and this is the clubs fault not the fans, is that I personally think that the club should have somehow rewarded the fans who have stuck out Withdean rain and shine by suggesting that they have first dibs on WHERE THEY WANT TO SIT. I know that there are plenty of spaces, but as pointed out above with a spurs fan taking a prime position , if I cant get a seat in a position I want for someone who has never been before, I will be pretty pissed off.

I understand the clubs position, BUT that doesn't make me feel any better....that is all really!!1

Thas what i said Dave - it's the clubs decision - not his. And for the supporters club to run well and fill the coach they need as many tickets as poss so it's not his fault there's 'new' fans coming on board (Burwash and Heathfield aren't that big). I feel the same Dave and as you know i go to / used to go to lots of games but havent afforded a ST at Withers for a few yrs now. I luckily got in with a friends +3 but don't even go to a presentation and others will no dobt have chosen their seats before me that havent gone to an Albion game ever.

But there's 22.5k tickets so there's enough to go around. I couldn't understand what had happened with this thread when i posted that either.

Sorry but I've got less than zero respect for the boy scouts frantically organising coaches to our shiny new stadium from places that never had a coach all the time we were at Withdean. Where were you when our stadium was shit? We needed you more in the past than we do in the future. Anybody can jump on the success bandwagon. Just ask American Express.

I do agree with you mate to a certain extent but that's progress for you.The bottom line is we will need these sort of fans to fill Falmer and take the club forward. How else do teams like Reading and Swansea go from 3500 gates to 15k and upwards?
As long as Falmer is filled and rocking every game i don't really care where these new breed of fans come from.

So, Tom, how exactly would you go about filling the 15,000 seats remaining after those 5,000 heroic Withdean veterans have taken their places? Do tell.

Utter b*llocks. I've hated the vast majority of times I've been to Withdean, we've been sh*, the experience has been sh*t etc. Understand something, most of what the Burwash type organisations are doing is not bringing in new fans, but bringing back those fans who attend 2 or 3 or 5 Albion games a year, but getting them to come more regularly. I've lived in TW for over half my life and I know many Albion fans in Tun Wells who wanna go more regularly now, mainly because we have a lovely new stadium to look forward to. What the f*ck is wrong with that? Go on Tom, you can feel as superior as you want when you stuck by the Albion through those crap years (as did I) but we aint going anywhere if we just get 5,000 season ticket holders. We need everybody.

Not strictly true. Both would have been nice of course, but this thing will just die on its arse if we don't bring in new fans, as well as attracting back lots of the old of course.

Now is not the time to get sniffy about who is joining us in our gleaming new stadium.

Some of the opinions on NSC recently about 'JCL' have been shocking! Almost as if these new or returning fans are a second class!

But I guess opinions is what message boards and NSC do brilliantly. Just doesn't exactly appear inviting to the 'JCL' who tbh we need if this club is to go anywhere, else it'll end up like darlington!

Keep up the good work Bozza, the mods, burwash and kind and a big welcome to returning and new fans.

Now lets all just get along!

I completely agree with you, however, we need to fill the seats... And I can understand if you live any distance away Withdean isn't exactly a thrilling prospect

i'm no jcl i've stood on the terrace at sunderland for an evening game in the 80's with about 40 albion fans,i've got over 40 years under my belt watching the albion, season ticket holder at gillingham, but only managed three years with at s/t at withdean, probaly the most incredible 10 years in our history which could give us 3 league titles at the end of it,previous 30 provided not one league title win,but what made the albion for me was the big games the ability for 30,000 fans to rally to the call,if these fans were not there to crank up the big games the good times we would not be the albion i'm going from one s/t to four for falmer because of the stadium and hopefuly the atmo generated by the extra 15,000,we can all do the where were you when number! can't recall 5,000 putting leaflets through doors,so back off. The guys who are trying to generate the interest again are gonna be long term fans themselves. nsc should be a vechile for promoting the albion as well as the badger and pant twirling debates.:D

Going to get flamed for posting again but some of the comments on here really need responding to

I've done this all off my own back and have been going to the Albion regularly since 1975, Im 41 now, certainly no boy-scout. We have managed to garner 70+ members (many are oaps, children and regular Albion fans) for Seagulls Over Burwash with only 4 or 5 of them being non-regulars if you like but ALL have been to Withdean at some point in the past and all are Sussex lads and friends. Many people simply can't afford a ticket but we've included them as members because they may get the chance to go in the future to The Amex and more importantly want to. be part of it.

The ticket situation dictated that our existing season ticket holders in the supporters club passed on their +3 tickets to nominated friends/colleages in Seagulls Over Burwash, perfectly fair and above board. As we are in North East Sussex it seemed a good idea to start a coach up as no park and ride will exist north of Lewes (as far as we know), BHA FC are also very keen on this idea from a sustainable transport point of view. I also want to extend links with Albion In The Community and get them up to this long forgotten part of East Sussex.

Unfortunately my dad died two years ago, he won't see the ground and we set the club in his name as it was always something he wanted to. I certainly don't need the grief but I love the football club and want it to move on instead of 'limping' along like it has for at least 25 years.
