We are good at that hence why we always start well. And the great news this season none of this tour abroad nonsense. It's all happening early isn't it?
None of this signing players after the season has started. (OK, which we still might do, but probably not significantly)
It must be good for the manager to be able to oversee a pre season with all recruits in place
Here we gooooooo
Too right. We are good at that hence why we always start well. And the great news this season none of this tour abroad nonsense.
He made them an offer they can't refuse.Wow! I'm old enough to remember when we were signing players from teams like Bury, Oldham Athletic, and Shrewsbury Town!
Once again, thank you very much Uncle Tony.
I'm sure There's a non UK training camp though , presumably with a match (open ? Closed ? ) as part of that.We are good at that hence why we always start well. And the great news this season none of this tour abroad nonsense.
Not sure about his passing ability or pace but if we want defensive brilliance, goals from set-pieces, strength and size, he looks a great option. I think he'd be an amazing partner for Boscagli.I’m sure Webster will stay. Igor to be sold and Cashin out on loan.
Coppola looks an absolute beast. Sort of player for Everton away. Few yellows to come if his highlights reel is anything to go by.
Yer I think we have to go for him at the price although the AI scout doesn't seem to think he will fit into our style of play !Not sure about his passing ability or pace but if we want defensive brilliance, goals from set-pieces, strength and size, he looks a great option. What about directing?Yer I think we have to go for him at the price although the AI scout doesn't seem to think he will fit into our style of play !
Playing style
Coppola is a traditional Italian centre-back with modern traits. He is strong in the air, composed under pressure, and has excellent positioning. He rarely dives into tackles and prefers to intercept by reading the game. Coaches praise his maturity, discipline, and ability to defend deep without losing shape.
Strengths
•Aerial duels
•Defensive positioning
•Interceptions and blocks
•Physical strength
•Game awareness
Areas to improve
•Progressive passing
•Long-range distribution under pressure
•Comfort on the ball when pressed
•Speed in recovery against fast attackers
Notable stats per 90 minutes
•Clearances: 6
•Interceptions: 2
•Successful aerial duels: 70 percent
•Pass completion: 82 percent (but only 4 percent forward pass accuracy)
Tactical fit
Ideal for teams using a low or mid block. Fits well into a back three or a conservative four-man defense. Not yet suited to systems requiring advanced ball progression from the back line.
Scouting verdict
Coppola is a composed young defender with Serie A experience and youth international pedigree. While his passing game needs refinement, his tactical awareness and physical presence make him a valuable defensive prospect with top-flight potential.
Didn’t Webster recently say how much he loved it here and enjoyed being unusual in staying long term at the same club? Given his end of season form, barring injuries he is going to take some shifting imo.I'd say centre backs for next season look like
Van Hecke, Coppola, Boscagli, Dunk, Cashin
with
Igor (probably out)
Webster (possibly out - presumably wants more game time, West Ham were sniffing around)
and options if desperate
Veltman, Baleba
and watch out for Freddie Simmonds.
Shite.What about directing?
Agreed. I'd be very surprised to see Webster go.Didn’t Webster recently say how much he loved it here and enjoyed being unusual in staying long term at the same club? Given his end of season form, barring injuries he is going to take some shifting imo.
Fully fit I’d go as far as to say he’s our best centre half. If he hadn’t had so many injuries he may well have been in with a shout of an England cap.Agreed. I'd be very surprised to see Webster go.
We need to make sure we can injure them in pre season. We can’t risk having fit players. It's all happening early isn't it?

My favourite kind of meetings!so at what point do we all get into a mad panic that this means JPVH is going? The curse is going to strike.
I have just had a meeting cancelled so I have a bit of time so I might spend it having a mad panic.
He has two years left on his deal. He may sign a new one, but most likely he'll want to see what his options are before doing so.so at what point do we all get into a mad panic that this means JPVH is going? The curse is going to strike.
