End of last season we were scraping the barrel for players with all the injuries we had. Surely you noticed that?

Now we’re without one of our big attackers for 4 months after only 2 games.

I don’t think I’ve said anything that crazy. We have a high intensity game. It requires a certain type of physical training. It’s often been the case with similar style teams, like Klopp’s Liverpool.

I remember us missing Solly for the run in but aside from that nothing stands out.

Is there a site where you can view injuries by season? A few show current injuries but can't find a historical record.

You've explained it in your last paragraph. We are going to get injuries, it happens in football and happens especially with teams in Europe playing lots of high intensity games.

It's not a massive concern, just a normal size concern for a club in our position.

The club is currently in the best position, condition and place it has ever been in. We have a board and CEO working absolute miracles in one of the toughest leagues in the world with a manager playing some of the best football that league has ever seen.

Try and enjoy it.

Other than Moder who feels like he has been injured since the Dinosaurs went extinct, I think Julio is our only injured player?

We have a few fragile players like Lallana, Webster, Lamptey but nothing has changed there since RDZ came in
And Moder was injured before RDZ, wasn’t he?

I’m more than happy to admit I’m wrong, but it felt like we suffered a lot of injuries at the end of last season and now we’re already on the injury train again…

From what I can remember, we had March, Veltman, Webster, Lamptey, Lallana, Sarmiento all out towards the end of last season, and that’s just off the top of my head.

I think you're right, but of those I only think March and Veltman were unusual, the others had more longstanding injuries and/or are more injury prone.

I guess our play is relatively intense, so maybe more likely to result in cumulative stress/strain. If so, the club should be aware...

He was excellent at Wolves however as sad as it is I'm sure it will give someone else the opportunity to step up.
It's now a squad game and as much as personally I don't like the regular rotations RDZ rotates the starting XI weekly.
Speedy recovery.

With high intensity playing and tactics will come suitable training and recovery methods honed alongside the medical and physio departments. RDZ has many years of this under his belt and the club will have adapted their methods to minimise injuries. They will still happen, that's just the nature of the human body.

Gutting as he’s fast becoming a superstar.

I do think someone needs to look at the injury issues we’re having under RDZ because something somewhere is going wrong. We’re getting many of them, and we’re getting them pretty damned consistently. It’s a massive concern.
Absolute total nonsense.

If anything, we consistently have fewer injuries than other PL teams.

Players are generally getting injured more as they’re playing too much football at higher intensity but the authorities will just not be told.

So bad we’ve currently got the (joint) second lowest no. of injuries in the division.

Examples? I don't think we have more injuries than most clubs. In fact, we seem to be very good at managing them overall. Look at our handling of Danny Welbeck for instance.

That was more down to RDZ resistance to rotating the squad as much as he should have with Gilmour etc

Just another spin on this, although there is no doubt that Julio has bags of potential, his bare stats for us so far is that he's appeared in 22 Premier League games for us, scored 4 goals, but actually only started 8 games. I thought he was excellent at Wolves but like another poster pointed out, he hasn't been the most consistent and for me, he's still a little lightweight. Had he not had a great game at Wolves, would there be the same panic?

Again as somebody else has said, it's a squad game now under RDZ and I bet a few eyebrows were raised last week when Julio replaced JP in the starting eleven. We have the depth now, last year it was Undav who was the "10" alternative outside of Welbeck. Undav who scored a few goals in not many appearances and has now been shipped out on loan!

The need now is depth in respect of another signing - it just robs Julio of 4 months development time, he's young enough, but it is a shame.

The question for today with Evan starting is who plays the 10 role - RDZ likes Welbeck, but what about JP, I couldn't call it. Certainly a nice problem to have and poles apart from the end of last season and it appears we still want to sign a replacement - that's how far we've come imho.

There is zero evidence of many of our players getting consistently injured and certainly it isn’t any more than other clubs and it hasn’t increased under De Zerbi.

Last seasons long term injuries were Moder (injured before RDZ arrived), Lallana (no different to before RDZ arrived), Lamptey (struggled with injury even before RDZ arrived), Sarmiento (broke his foot on international duty so hardly RDZs fault) and March (injured hamstring towards the end of last season when we were playing lots of games). Other players missed a few games here and there, and we had a couple, like Dunk, who were playing with knocks and were rested or benched as soon as we'd confirmed European football.

Now this season we’ve got Enciso, that’s just two players who have been injured since RDZs arrival that didn’t have either long term or pre existing injury problems or were caused away from the club.

End of last season we were scraping the barrel for players with all the injuries we had. Surely you noticed that?

Again that wasn't due to injuries that was due to the need to rest players because we had such a backlog of games at the end of the season and the fact we didn't have a massive squad. It didn't do us much harm either.

Link below gives a pretty good indication of injuries but isn't 100% accurate as it doesn't include March being injured at the end of last season, but does have Sanchez down as injured when he had been dropped.

Are you joking? Every player was running on empty. That's when injuries and fatigue happen in any team.

March, Lallana, Lamptey and Sarmiento i've already covered.

Veltman missed 4 games (Man Utd, Everton, Arsenal, Newcastle) but was back for the final 3 games of the season. Webster missed 3 (Arsenal, Newcastle, Southampton) but was back for the final two games. He's someone who had spells out injured under Potter too though.

Fingers crossed he makes a full and speedy recovery, could have done with him yesterday!
