Just got in. Dunk, Caicedo and Alli Mac stood out for me in a below par performance.

With Ferguson on we'd have buried one of the chances.

Still we lost fair and square. No VAR BS, ref I thought did well overall and our support was brilliant.

I thought the ref was quality tbf. Let the game flow and allowed both teams to get stuck in. Just as it should be. Too many soft fouls given these days.

Thought it was a poor and scrappy game dominated by defence. AWB played Mitoma well and once Undav came in we looked even less like scoring. United did well to keep us out but they changed their game plan to nullify us rather than play their own game. In summary it was an almost identical game to Charlton with an identical outcome.

I thought RDZ played the wrong team , which left us no options for substitutes who could change the game ,
would of played Levi at the back , moved Gros into midfield not started Enciso , he could of come on when they were getting tired

That was my take. Had Lallana and/or Ferguson been available, I think we'd have had enough to win inside 90 minutes today.

I do wonder why at Wembley (and Twickenham for that matter) the bars don't stay open for a while after the match to smooth 80,000 odd people piling out at the same time. The majority of whom are going to end up in a wearisome queue for public transport.

The one thing that will remain in my mind from todays game is not the game not the missed penalty but the Nightmare journey driving to and from Wembley it took 4.5 hours to get there and 3.5 hours home why build the national stadium in such a poorly accessible place I hate how London is this massive black hole swallowing up all the resources.
Man United nullified the Albions game and in doing so they also nullified themselves, feel very sorry for Solly and now with only a top six or better finish we have potentially a very thin choice for RDZ to select from no European football and it might be even thinner choice next season

Just getting home now. Yes, really. Took a detour to Camden and The World’s End to grab a couple of pints with my daughter, who was also a touch deflated at the afternoon’s events.

Subsequent tube mayhem left me in real danger of missing the last train home and finding myself stranded in the smoke overnight. Might have initiated a dirty protest if that had happened.

As it is, getting home 14 hours after setting out, I just feel sad. Sorry for myself, sure but even sadder for the players. They’ve given so much to provide us this amazing season and yet they could still come away with nothing to show for it. Poor guys. I hope they feel suitably proud and bounce back on Wednesday.

A friend whose opinion I trust texted me that he was gutted (he's a Liverpool fan) but thought we lacked conviction. I think I agree. We've heard about how determined the team are to make history, but against a poor Manchester United side, they didn't quite seem to believe they could do it. Mitoma seemed reluctant to take his man on, Solly was subdued, we opted for the safe pass too often, and the ball didn't get into the final third fast enough. It was a throwback to the bad days under Potter. We need to do far better when they come to the Amex.

Sorry to quote my own post, but I would like to pass on an update.
It seems that he had a full-on stroke and has lost a few physical functions, and although he tried, he was pretty much unable to focus on the match, today.
The staff have been superb, and he's being taken for a full assessment tomorrow, where we will hopefully determine how to progress etc.
My mum is in bits (they've been together for over 60 years) and has health issues of her own....bad ones, sadly.
No idea why I'm telling you all this...I just felt the need.

Thanks for posting that. Most of us will never meet you but many of us will have you and your dad in our hearts. Hope it goes better than you hope. x

I think the squad depth showed, I think there was a bit of timidity, maybe the passing game wasn't so slick, maybe they could've played with more aggression, but at the end of the day those boys put in an amazing shift for over 120 minutes against a Man Utd side that had obviously had a rocket up their backside from Thursday. A United side that protected their makeshift back line really well, who didn't actually offer a huge amount going forward, pressed well, with De Gea who pulled off three or four quality saves. Our boys took them all the way and lost on a penalty and even though he missed, Solly had those big balls RDZ is always talking about to step up and take another. I'm proud of them. Those boys deserve all the accolades we can afford them when they come back to the Amex.

If we want to play with the big boys regularly we now dust ourselves off and go again.
