All the dickheads in this country would’ve loved that to have just been a scathing attack on Lancs Police.
Mental health is a terrible thing for some people. I cant get my head around someone doing normal things like take the children to school, a dog walk, and a work call on the phone, then maybe on the spur of the moment decide to drown themselves. If that was indeed the case.

Yes indeed. No criticism of the police in their statement at all. Interesting also that the BBC were not criticised.

Is that what they think? I’m thinking an accident or heart attack or something causing her to fall. Either way, she’s gone and it’s tragic. Almost as tragic is the online miss marples slating a grieving family with false accusations in public of course

No surprise with Sky, they feast on such events. Murdoch may’ve sold his shareholding but they maintain his NOTW DNA.

Having lived ‘up north’ for nearly 30 years I have to say that these comments about Northerners are massive generalisations.Have to say I felt guilty when I’d wrote that as went back and read the rest of your post that was going into northern valuesglad you took it as it was intended! X
Tight northern communities may have more rumours about ‘neighbours’ but there are plenty of communities in the north where people keep their business to themselves.
If you think all northern towns are like say Burnley, you might be quite surprised by visiting Wilmslow or Alderney Edge.
We don’t all wear flat caps, have whippets and gossip over the garden fence.

I love a joke and take plenty from northerners but give it back. I think generalisations are always bad and most of us know it doesn’t account for everyone. I do feel a bit on my guard up north though - maybe it’s the unknown!
Looks like the family and police worked appropriately throughout, with the family trusting the police and vice versa. The family obviously knew what the likely scenario was. There is no defense for Sky and ITVs type of journalism - feeding the internet keyboard warriors. I see the government's lacky lickspittles, should-be-defunded BBC have not been criticized, however.
If there is a missing person, if it is the judgement of the police to ask the media to put their face out, that should be it, and the media* should be then required to step back. By law.
Except....yes....I know. The trouble is the police have tarnished their reputation badly and repeatedly, so the idea of 'trusting' the police and 'moving on' when requested is understandably questioned, and 'questions asked'. The police have lost a great deal of the authority the once had (up to and including the 1950s). The right of the public to question is hard to argue against. And it's easy now in hindsight to say everyone should have minded their own business from day 1, but how could anyone know for sure whether the police were doing a good job or not?
*Excluding Facebook, twitter and any other 'free' (unregulated) platform, of course. Feel that lovely freedom..

Kay Burley lives and breaths it!! She is a shocking woman!! I don't say that lightly! Sky News coverage has just been bizarre!
It doesn't really matter what you or I think. I don't feel inclined to seek to find what was the case. The family want privacy and the police are not undermining this. We don't have the right to know the ins and outs of everybody's life (and death) unless it materially affects us. Accident, suicide, murder, in this case none of these will change anything about how the rest of us go about our lives. There are reasons why the family wish to retain what's left of their privacy.

No it wasn't, it was to try stop the speculation and ridiculous theories being widely touted around.
The Coroner has the case now, we will have to wait and see what they say but that will not be a quick process and rightly so.
Fair enough, its been all over the news in recent weeks though. The newspapers will be giving their opinions tomorrow, no doubt.
I have read the Robert Enke biography, he is the German goalkeeper who killed himself. Robert went about his final days quite normally as well, even upbeat if I remember correctly, which made his suicide all the more strange to his wife and family. Apparently this is a trait, once a person has made the plan they can feel a sense of release and freedom from their depression.
Maybe this explains your last sentences.
Could have been a simple accidental slip - wouldn't take long to be deadly this time of year. Shock of the cold water (possibly causing a heart attack), almost immediate loss of strength due to the cold so unable to pull herself out.....happened to a fishing pal years ago on the Adur near Henfield. As soon as I saw Burley on that bridge last night at 9.00pm , well it was just wrong.
