Do you think RDZ lacks faith in Webster? He oddly preferred JP on Sat and now he wants us to move another (expensive) CB.
I think so; but suspect is a mixture of being NA due to injury (so cannot see him perform) and the fear that Webster will be sicknote rather than he lacks faith in Webster's ability.

If l were RDZ I'd be pretty put out if the chairman and CEO both thought they knew better than him about who we needed when it came to signing new players.

It should be part of the managers remit, certainly nothing to do with the board of directors, unless of course Tony kills any deal because he doesn't thing the player is worth the money.
This will have been explained to him on signing; the other way he said on BBC interview when asked that selling Caicedo was a matter for Tony Bloom.

This may sound a bit pedantic but RDZ is 'Head Coach' and not manager.

The role of Head Coach typically has much less involvement in transfers.
Semantics - if the man who overseas the football we play has no input into signings he’ll be gone at the first opportunity imo. I doubt Bloom would not take RDZ’s preferences seriously into account on any signing, if it’s within the budget.

Will not be surprised to see other PL clubs coming in with an offer close to what Shakhtar want.

Where did I say he has no input into signings?

Of course RDZ will have some involvement but overall it is the clubs transfer policy and not his.

Makes sense to sign another CB. We lost the Cucu option and Dunky won’t go on forever. Webdini injured alot. You’d think JP is part of the succession planning also

Feels like some of our fans are becoming a bit obsessed with this notion we should never be signing players for £20m or above. Our record signing was £20m and in a position we already had strength in depth. It’s not realistic that we will always be able to replace the leavers with £5-10m punts who come good.

€30M? - wasn't it 'only' €20M when this thread started?

Close the bloody thread now, before it goes up any further! €20M (or even £20M) soumds OK if both RDZ rates and wants him and the recruitment team's research OKs him. No more though.

Exactly. And remember when we signed Duffy when we already had Goldson? It can't be wrong to improve. And since there seems to be no chance of signing Colwill permanently, this could be a good deal. Dunky and Veltman aren't getting any younger ...
