But that's what being given the runaround does to you. You lose your heads and panic. I reckon that's why we seem to get goals in bursts - it just throws the defences completely out of kilter, and before they can recover, it's gone. Look at Tarkowsky on his arse for four goals. Must be soul destroying.
Tarkowski and Mee at Burnley used to drive me absolutely bananas, they would slide and block absolutely EVERYTHING thrown at them. That certainly wasn't the same Tarkowski tonight. He's well and truly caught the EFC shit virus. Mind you, he got relegated last season so maybe he's been on the fritz for a while now.

True, but the defending for the 3rd was tragically bad for a PL club. March could've taken another couple of touches and still had time to place it calmly in the net
Agreed, it was poor - but goals need to be considered in context, not just from short clips. A lot of teams defend poorly when they've been run ragged and lose cohesion.

I’m certainly not ‘too exited’- just stating simple facts - Ferguson proved again tonight he was good enough for first team football (otherwise RDZ wouldn’t have played him) - he didn’t fold when he got the assist but clinically put it away - exactly what Brighton needs in the final third. Ironically, imo, there’s less pressure on young players, excited and raring to prove themselves than there is for a seasoned goal scorer who has hit a dry spell and playing under greater expectations from manager and fans alike to ‘score more goals’.
As important was his first half post strike, the ability to turn and hit he ball from behind him. Special talent and seems to have none of the AC nonsense about him. Fabulous and so pleased for the lad!

Giving Caicedo a 7 for that performance is like saying Michelangelo did quite a good job on the Sistine chapel ceiling.
Well observed. He was spraying it around like an absolute wrong-un all night, that pass out to Mitoma for the opener was EVIL. At times it looked like there was 2 of him on the pitch, he was bloody everywhere. Utterly ran the show, what a talent he is.

Always in the right position. Phenomenal.

That's too simplistic. It's sharpness, from good coaching in attacking areas. The team is so well-drilled and structured in the way it attacks now. They clearly work incredibly hard on it.
But it's exactly this that breeds confidence.

I go to public inquiries feeling underprepared and with a weak-ish case - and I stammer and don't seem to answer questions very well. I go fully prepped and on top of of all my evidence and information, with a case I'm pretty sure I'm going to win with - I give fluent and coherent answers and come across really well. All because I am well-drilled, know what I'm doing, and am confident as opposed to the other times.

Yet two of our goalscorers are two of our longest serving players and one a kid. So I'm not sure it's simply an increase in quality players.
Gross was scoring for fun with GP as well

The goal scorers are not the only ones to play a part in scoring. With increase of quality, I mean Alexis developing the required physique to play in the league, Caicedo coming into the starting eleven, Mitoma joining, Perv as well (worse defender but better in attack than Cucurella). The movement, skill and dynamism of these additions is the increase in quality compared to say two years ago. Nothing wrong with the splendid Bissouma, or Dan Burn at left back, or Aaron and Maupay up front... but the new boys are just on a different level. We've seen it for about a year now, and there's still more to come, especially if the club continues to be able to replace quality players leaving.

Agreed. So what deserves the credit is the hard work you've put into your preparation, more than the confidence that results from it. Was just trying to make the point that it's not by luck or coincidence that the goals are flowing now, as some seemed to be suggesting.

Yup. It's Moises and Mitoma mostly. Mitoma creates absolute carnage. He's an unbelievable talent. His decision making, his pace, his control, his dribbling, his finishing. It's crazy to say it but he's a huge upgrade on Trossard. And Moises, well the stats don't lie. If he plays we have a chance against anyone.

"There are points within a game where you might be looking towards containment and trying to keep things tight for a while, but I don't think it works to have that mindset as a starting point. How do you grow if that is your consistent way of approaching these types of games ? I'm not sure you can. We've tended not to go down that route. We want players to believe they can win every game, and in order to do that, you have to prepare as if you believe you can win. So, we try to be consistent with that."

I'm not an Eddie Howe fan, and I'm galled at what he's done at Newcastle. But this quote could easily have come from RDZ could it not (with a few additional errrs and mmmmms)

Which RDZ has to take credit for.
Partly yes, but it would be unfair to follow that to a conclusion that Potter didn't inspire confidence. Not saying you have necessarily come to that conclusion btw.

When there's more players scoring (partly due to influx of better players) that automatically raises everyone's confidence.
