Gene Simmons ( Kiss ) giving it straight

The Nicky Campbell phone in the other morning on R5 was very good - an NHS employee was on who loves her job but refuses to have the vaccine as it is her choice and she has antibodies but will reluctantly get the vaccine at the last possible moment in order to keep her job. A Cancer patient then phoned in and said that she was having to isolate etc and she would prefer that the NHS employee left her job tomorrow as she clearly didn't mind putting vulnerable people at risk.

Simmons is right.

Would he have the same opinion if he was 40 years younger and therefore not in a vulnerable group.

Almost certainly not. Like most boomers, self-interest is his utmost priority.

My son's friend group in their 20s would agree with Gene. COVID swept through them and a couple became severely ill...

I'm not anti Vax, I'm very pro Vax, but I chose not to have the vaccine because at the time it felt like the best decision. That was a personal choice and nothing to do with Mr Simmons. Where we are now in the pandemic, there is no longer any need for me to get it.

Essentially I don't appreciate being branded an enemy by a bloke being all shouty about an issue that he wouldn't have been so shouty about when he wasn't an at risk group.

Today you are fine, but will you be tomorrow? You seem to think this virus is going away but I caught a severe dose of it only two weeks ago and sadly I have passed it on to two other friends (and I expect they have passed it on to others). I'm double vaxed and I dread to think how ill I might have been if I hadn't been.

I just don't agree that vaccination will make me any less of a risk to anyone. I'm regularly exposed to covid and I'm already highly immune.

But what is the downside of having a jab. If it MIGHT help others and doesn't do you any harm, then why not have it? You say you're highly immune, is that just your guess? Sounds like an excuse for just not getting a job.

Well, not very controversial from Simmons.

I've a long time ago made a decision in life stay out of groupthink. If people want to go to war, I refuse. If people want to vote for one or another hyped populist leader, I refuse. If people all want to buy the stuff they see in the commercial, I refuse. If people all want to vaccinate, I refuse. If people all want to blame certain individuals, minority groups or whatever it may be for whatever it may be, I refuse. I will then take my time to see if the groupthink is going in a direction I can agree with or if I want to stay out of it. People may call it selfishness, I call it independency. As someone who reads a lot of history, I believe my way of doing it would have resulted in fewer wars, sounder economies, technologies and communities.

I dont have the same faith in society that others have. In the case of vaccinations, I think the normalisation and even desire of globally injecting things into the whole population is a threat to mankind. So I'm not in it. It is quite funny that people think it is about selfishness, when vaccinations result in both societal advantages and approval from those submissive to groupthink. But I wont oppose others getting it: I just urge people to contemplate more about the wider picture, and whatever their conclusion may be, they should follow it.

I believe that is generally not the case, however. People follow other people and allow themselves to be manipulated by "experts", media and trends without much thought. What do you want humanity and society to be? My conclusion usually ends up in that I dont want it to be totalitarian and streamlined as humans are a diverse species that does not feel very happy when locked up in cages of culture, expectations, demands and groupthought. The peer pressure into vaccines is not good, as I see it, and if it was ever to be mandatory, it would be a totalitarian move as well as a move towards totalitarianism in more areas than just vaccines.

But you are an enemy of society ... whether or not you like being branded one.

The fella is right of course

Same here. You can brand me as one. Society is a poor construction, resulting in environmental disaster, horrendously unfair distribution of wealth and resources, poor mental & physical health, punishing diversity of all sorts. Society caused Covid-19 through its lack of respect for nature and through its greed.

How do you know you are immune , has a medical specialist stated such and therefore said you don't need to be vaccinated?

Basically what Simmons is saying is:

"The unvaxed they tell us that we are wrong
That's alright we're millions strong
This is my needle, it makes me proud
These are my people and this is the crowd
They are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy shites!"

The rapid pro vaxxers are starting to come across like people who would paint symbols on peoples houses to identify them to everyone so they could be persecuted.

Right little vaxx fascists emerging.

5 Million people in this country that are able to have the vaccination have so far declined the vaccination - This so selfish and thankfully 50 million people have had the vaccination otherwise we'd still be in lockdown. 5 million people !!!!! absolutely crazy.
Gene is obviously correct and that stats are there for everyone to see

I wonder how many of those who refuse the vaccine are also opposed to lockdowns?

If they are opposed to both then you have to start asking serious questions of their logical judgement.

It's not that simple to call it selfish though, many elderly people have refused it for a myriad of reasons, case by case basis, you can't put yourself in someone else's shoes, and it's not all people being belligerent for the sake of it either.

Ah, you took it as a personal attack.

Let me let you into a secret. Gene Simmons doesn't know you. If you want to behave like a pillock, there is nothing he can do to stop you. You can relax. If he has hurt your feelings, that's probably for the best.

I'd say the elderly ones aren't the problem as vaccines in the over 70's was running at something like 99% take up?
Obvious there will be legitimate reasons for not having the vaccine but 5 million people is a bit mental surely and when the only other option we have against this disease is locking down the whole country ?

Simmons is right.

I listened to that too. I admire NC's restraint.

I suspect some of these people are the sort that don't bother wiping their arse properly after a shit because they are likely to have to have another shit later, so what's the point.
