Of course they would. They're at this level because they hate losing and love winning. If you get £10k to play for Bournemouth or £10k to play for City, any player would choose City.

You’ve missed the point.

The reason City are City is because of the £££££££

Trophies are won by the teams with the £££££

So anyone who says it isn’t about the money isn’t worried about winning trophies.

It’s ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS down to money in football now, because those with it win and those with it don’t.

He didn't need the money, he's already worth millions.

Folk just need to accept that sometimes people move for bigger challenges.

The chance to manage a Champions League team, and one that wanted him, isn't a regular thing. He took it.

Good luck to him.

If it wasn’t for the money, then I’d say we are the bigger challenge. Imagine getting a #teamslikebrighton into Europe or win a trophy. If he does that at Chelsea, what exactly has he achieved that others haven’t?

etely about the money.

Not just the piles of cash he is filling his pockets with, but the piles of cash he can now spend on players.

If it wasn’t… then people would never move to a top 6 club…. It’s ALL about the £££££££

It is, but I like to think that he wouldn't have gone if Abramovich was still in charge. The new owners have sold him a vision too. Probably being naive though!

To be fair to Graham, it must have been a struggle to get by month to month on just £500,000 pm, what with the cost of living crisis, fuel bills and all that. Just a normal, regular guy trying to get by, can you blame him for wanting to make life a little more comfortable for himself and his family over this coming winter?

****ish greed. Really, what do you DO with £5,000,000 a month?

Aside from the last line, I completely agree.

I don't wish him any luck although I think he will need it.

It's £60 million over 5-years.

I'm very thankful to have had Potter for his tenure, he has been a key part in developing Bloom & Barber's plans and has done so in a way that has brought exciting football with very little predictability. However CH was sacked because Bloom & Barber had a plan, Potter was appointed because he was a great fit within that plan and although it feels like an unfinished project the club have always been up front about how they are planning for potential replacements as Potter wouldn't be here forever. We will probably see some bumps as his replacement settles in but I expect progress to continue in the longer term.

I wish him and his team all the best and would love to see more managers of similar style and approach grace the premier league.

Chelsea have a new owner and an incredible recruitment team for their academy, one of only two sides who loan out more youngsters than us. Potter will have been sold the dream of building a squad and developing players like he has done throughout his career and he must be convinced he will get the time at Chelsea...time will tell. They are a squad with plenty of central midfielders and central defenders but very few strikers so he may feel right at home. If Brighton do not win the league then I hope it is Potter with Chelsea, he has done a fabulous job for us and is progressing his career all the best to him and his team.

Its all a bit revolting isn't it.
Yes.
Lets see how this pans out at a club that doesn't afford so much as 18 months.
That was Chelsea under Abramovic. I wouldn't be surprised if it's quite different under the new owners.

The size of the contract will also remove him from the England reckoning for the foreseeable future. No way he's taking a 50%+ pay cut to do that job.

An obscene amount of money especially when millions of people in this country can barely afford to live. I cannot wait until the bubble bursts and football finances collapse but it doesn’t look like that will happen any time soon.

If all is true about the money being paid by for Chelski to get instant 5 year success, then I'm more than happy for GP to go and fall, fail and reep the rewards he'll face.

I'm just so glad the Albion are what you get, a club born again from near closure, and have grown steadily without an injection of viagra.

Put it another way:

Chelsea = instant pot noodle.
Albion = slow roast ham

:facepalm::lolol:

Oh, I see. Seriously. What do you DO with £1,000,000pm?

Revel in the idea that you’ve secured the financial security of your future generations to come for years and years. I don’t quite understand the fury at him leaving. Who wouldn’t go to a different employer for 3, 4, 5x your current wage?

I think all this responsibility might be to much for Graham and he might not do as well as Chelsea hope

If anyone can honestly say they’d stay for £2m a year when they’re being offered £12m plus champions league etc then fair play to them.
