i can't argue with any of that, we are all thatcher's children now.
i mean now, in that there are only smithereens left. after the as yet unresolved disaster of brexit, (what else did his government achieve?), after the omnishambles of the pandemic (enquiry ongoing), after cajoling rees mogg to lie to the queen, after the bungle appointees truss/kwarteng not budget, after the nurses (amongst others) go on strike, after services have been run into the ground and the nation asset stripped, after being proven to have lied to the house, after he has fled to his bolt hole with his power base in tatters, why do people still follow him? what's left? where to now?
a lot of people were taken in by his vaudeville act, (shame on them), but NOW,
when the chickens have come home to roost and the verdict is quite literally in, why now?

It really is quite incredible.
8% still backing Johnson. I can only assume that none of them are suffering from the spiralling costs of living, the mortgage rate fiasco, the failing NHS or they want more of the same, because they really couldn't be ........... could they

Some tories will say that Johnson was the useful idiot brought it to get brexit done, with the expectation he would bluster it all through, after which everyone could forget about it and politics could rebalance.
Let's not forget, he was removed as PM by his own party last year. Think of that.
However, they have not all been singing from the same hymn sheet. We still have active tools (OK, members) such as Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg and Lady Nadine Dorries stirring the pot. Perhaps if they and the likes of Sir Giraffe would wind their long necks in, we might be able to move on. But they will need to step away from the greased piglet for that to happen. They are the conservative equivalent of the momentum goons who were still bleating about democracy after Corbyn had been replaced.

The first Prime Minister ever to have been found guilty of lying to the house (there is a reason that members are honourable), to be subsequently found guilty of intimidating the committee investigating the lie, to then break the laws again to write a lucrative Daily Mail column while many can't feed their families thanks to inflation and interest rates and to finally give actual honours to people caught in a video partying while the rest of the country couldn't have Christmas with loved ones?
