566 pages, I created a monster. It's been an interesting few months and respect to everyone who has contributed and apologies to those I over-stepped the line with.

Off to see Nick Cave now. Big day tomorrow. May the best party win.

All the best, Comrade Tubthumper.

You certainly called a labour victory early. Did you promise to run around naked or something if that wasnt the case?! Not that i would ask you to honour that!

What mess did what socialist friends leave?

I assume you're not referring to labour and the GLOBAL financial crisis, primarily caused through neo liberal policies stemming back to right wing governments in the 80s, because I also assume you are not a complete moron.

Nice.........a simple biased opinion would have sufficed.

So, an hour or so from election day it is time to be reflective...

This thread began with Labour having a 7 (seven) (sieben) point lead over the nasty meany selfish spiteful vindictive Tories. This was down from what I believe was their mid-term high lead of 10 (ten) (zehn) point lead but still enough to romp home with a sizeable majority.

Despite that, I'm sure they'd kick on for an easy-easy-easy victory, right?

Is anyone able to confirm the current lead that Labour has please.

:lolol:

Welcome to the party. I have debated these issues for the last few months, please see endless earlier posts on this thread that counter your points.

Anyway, tonight feels a bit like Christmas eve, all calm before the big event. I am too relaxed to debate this. It will be what it wil be

Perhaps you could remind us why the meany selfish spiteful vindictive tories failed to win an outright majority at the last election when they were up against Labour who had the misfortune of being on watch during the 'global' financial crisis but were led by Brown who was probably the most unpopular leader of recent times. Intelligent he may have been but he was not a great leader. And still Cameron didn't win!

It seems bizarre that the data there shows vote share for Great Britain but seats for the UK ???

Yup. That really is a bizarre prediction, way out of the kilter with the others (see: http://www.may2015.com for evidence). Still, perhaps that's the last poll we'll see for a while selected by Titanic. He'll be on a new thread trying to insist that, despite not getting a majority, because the Tories managed to get a few more seats than Labour that they have the 'moral' or 'democratic' legitimacy to govern. There will be a lot of that over the next week or so.

The loss of the lead for the opposition as the election comes closer is not unusual and has been predicted by pollsters. In fact many pundits have predicted an even larger swing to the incumbent. In August 2014 the Labour opposition had a seven point lead. It has lost that lead and is now level (-7 over eight months). In August 2009 the Conservative opposition had a seventeen point lead, by the following May their lead was reduced to seven points (-10 over eight months)

You're calling 2010 as a Labour victory?

You're calling 2015 as a Labour victory? 4/1 to get the most seats - lump on.

I can't confirm a Labour lead in the national polls. I don't even expect Labour to get more seats than the Tories (because the view that they are nasty meany selfish spiteful vindictive has stuck, and they -- the greatest electoral machine -- haven't won a majority now for 23 years, check back through the history books, and see if you can respond with the previous longest period they endured without a majority).
But I do expect to see Labour forming the next government. And you?
