The response letter describes the Guardian as 'extremist leftist'. The Guardian! Lord only knows what they make of the Socialist Worker...

Can't get my head round the Royal British Legion writing to the Grauniad about this!

Talk about preaching to the converted - a letter to The Times or Telegraph, even the Mail or Express but the fvcking Guardian beggars belief!!

It was an open letter on their website, I imagine it was taken from the website by the Guardian.

I was having a drink with my cousin's son a couple of weeks ago (he's done two tours in Iraq) and he said most of the lads think the Labour Party are the scum of the earth, for taking us into a war on lies costing the lives of 300 of their friends and comrades and hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians.

If you had been paying a bit more attention, you'd realise (a) I'm not a New Labour voter or supporter (b) the war was fully backed by the Tories (c) when I and a million others marched against the war back in 2003 you and your ilk were calling us friends of terrorists.

Of course there were those Indians (including Sikhs who fought against us in WW2) in Chandra Bose's Indian Liberation Army. Here's a photograph of them being reviewed by Erwin Rommel in 1942.

The Indian army in WW2 consisted at it's peak of approx. 2.5 million soldiers - the largest volunteer army in history and vastly greater than Bose's little mob but then recognising that would not allow you a nice little racial slur would it?

Any pictures of Julian Amery that you would like to post up?

I am very concerned, a friend of mine reads the Grauniad and I'm concerned that he could be an extreme left wing supporter. How come I have never noticed before the affront to the democracy in which I live ? How come they are allowed to peddle this evil filth on public display at newsagents ?

Whatever next, Cameron pretending to be a Nazi ? "Your papers please " ?

its the same old from the BNP - Griffin filmed his previous campaign at the battle of britain memorial at Capel. I find it very disrespectful that he tries to link his views to the armed forces and those who gave their lives in the second world war.

Interestingly enough we (folkestone) are having a freedom of entry march for the royal gurkha rifles on Thursday, many of whom live in the community, have children enrolled in our local schools and are a well respected group of people in the town. I wonder how many garrisons with mainly british troops can say the same about their local regiment.

Here is what Nick Griffin thinks about Ghurkas

The BNP is opposed to allowing veteran British Army Gurkhas the right of settlement in the United Kingdom. On 12 May 2009, in a radio broadcast on BBC's Five Live, the BNP's leader, Nick Griffin, told presenter Nicky Campbell that on the issue of allowing retired Gurkhas the right to settle in Britain: "We don't think the most overcrowded country in Europe, can realistically say, 'Look, you can all come and all your relatives.' Griffin went on to say, "When the Gurkhas signed up - frankly as mercenaries - they expected a pension which would allow them to live well in their own country."

I thought the far-right line was that only "reds and queers" were skinheads these days or was that just the Ginger Pig's take on things?

More seriously, it just shows the poisonous effect the BNP has on everyday life does it not?

IWCA article was interesting, although the United Front v. Popular Front argument is not new and to base anything on Andrew Gilligan's partial analysis of the London vote is a bit flimsly.*

* North-East, East, South-East London all voted for Cuddly Ken.
