Keep going back to the Man Utd game where we did attack them and almost got a result. What everyone seems to he forgetting though is that the difference between that match and the Spurs and Chelsea games is that they both occured during periods of heavy fixture congestion. CH needs to rotate the squad during these periods and it makes sense to play weaker teams in games where we are likely to lose. It really is as simple as that.

The fact that we are giving some of the fringe players a game is good imo. We were never expected to win today but Schelleto, Izquierdo and Kayal startedAnd haven’t disgraced themselves is a big plus imo. The more match ready players we have the better. Haven’t read the thread but presume Goldson lost his place because he hasn’t played for months before the Watford game.

No doom and gloom here, looking at the positives

Schelleto - he's done okay overall hasn't he?

How is zero points better? Better than what? One of those random wins you highlight would be better than nothing. This is borefest football.

So short sighted it’s unreal.

If we had lost 0-2 instead of 0-3 to Boro in 15/16 we would’ve been promoted.

This league is tight at the bottom and it could come down to GD, Chris thankfully learned his lesson but it seems some of our fans still don’t get it.

You will have a better record by defending than going attacking against the top 6, given a statistically significant amount of games.

Im not suggesting all out attack but you need an attacking outlet and we simply aren't even trying to build one in these games. Its playing not to lose plain and simple and it will yield us zero points in the TWELVE games v the top 6!

Nearly all the teams below us are cancelling each other out with draws ATM - not such a bad day for us.

We need to take something from Newcastle and beat Bournemouth - far more important than today.

Then why not give Dunk a rest and play Goldson and Duffy, Why not give Baldock a chance for the last 20?

Because over the course of the season we will be better off. You really think being hammered 8-0 against the big teams in gping to be useful!?

Getting hammered 8-0 is better if you win a game or two of these by actually attacking. Mainly because points count for more than goal difference.

According to the BBC stats, we've now had as many shots as we had at Old Trafford! Just doesn't feel like it...

I thought he did really well once he settled in to the game against Spurs but there were some complete wankers behind me slagging off everything he did and hoping he got taken off injured when he went down after one challenge. Some dicks don’t want to give players any leeway to settle in to a new country, league or team.

If Burnley can go to Man Utd and score two there is no reason we can’t be having more of a go in these matches. Zero goals in three away games v top 4 opponents and never even looked like even getting a draw from any. We’re not good enough to defend our way to a point against these teams so we need a plan b.

Brighton shots on goal today = 7, goals 0
Burnley shots on goal today = 3, goals 2.

From those stats, therefore, we ARE going for it.

Getting hammered 8-0 is likely to lead to a complete lack of confidence and a string of defeats.

Main problem with this is that both goals were very defendable. We do the hard work and then a couple of lapses ruin it all. Doubt Hughton will be pleased with that.

I agree, very irritating goals, but I expected nothing from this and we got nothing, we move on. Newcastle next, different type of game.

People said the same in 82. So we sacked the manager & then got relegated. This is how it is in the Prem, until we can afford to buy the quality we need.

Very much the exception that proves the rule. Have gone back five seasons and can find no example of GD involved with PL relegation. Would you prefer 5 0-8s and one 2-2 or what we have?

Frustrating. I called the result but that doesn't deflect the fact I thought we could have done a little bit more against a side who thought just turning up they would walk it against little old us.
Never mind, let's set the north east alight at the weekend.
