Chill out , there's plenty of time left in the season for absolutely anything to happen ! There's a rumour going around we're actually going to incorporate a real size Goal into training routines from Thursday, things are only going to get better from now on .

Last night we did not play badly. As a team we matched Arsenal in all departments, except that Lacazette could score. Of that is the important bit .
Anyway, although I am not resigned to going down, I do not mind it. I used to enjoy football more in the Championship.

Yes that was surprising, maybe it took a lot out of him so GP thought bring him on fresh towards the end, the problem is we can only guess!

Played well last 30mins of first half. But Arsenal went up a gear and it was too much for Albion second half. They may be low down, but they beat Chelsea a couple of days before and with the players they have (inclu 2-3 excellent young players coming through) are in a false position. If they play well they are likely to be better than us. Obvious to say we need to score when on top and it's a problem as everyone knows. Albion are not defending as well this season either and they got in between WB and CB far too easily. My worry is whether it's Arsenal or WBA, we often seem unable to sustain a performance from half to half.

The forward line was a surprise and not really good enough as a whole. I'm sure partly because of so many games and need to rotate, but Maupay might have played after goal at WHU. But GP sees them in training and knows fitness levels so ... However, I think he overthinks things too much at times and when fixtures clear I'd like to see him have faith in an XI and see what it can do for a few games.

Got to agree with that. We are so slow to move the ball. Pass, pass, pass all in front of the opposition. I doubt that’s being coached but we have zero confidence. When players are making runs they’re not being found so the runs stop. Dumping both strikers was an odd move this eve. Although Maupay was terrible when he came on. For the first time this season I think we’re gonna go down.

Unfortunately I agree; it seems to be a mindset of "look how good we are we've strung 27 passes together so we must be winning/doing something right. Everything is going to plan.".

Never mind that none of the passes took the game forward, none of them penetrated the opposition, none of them ended up with a shot on goal (never mind an actual goal ffs!), all of them ended up with the opposition winning the ball.

As the guys on the TV said, neither of our subs made a positive difference to the game, surely that's the purpose of making a substitution - what a waste of time.
Q. Did Maupey actually have a shot on goal? I genuinely cant remember.

It must be so frustrating being a BHA forward when the vast majority of our passes are from the goalkeeper to midfield and back again.

"For the first time this season I think we're gonna go down." I know we're only half way thru the season, but unfortunately I agree, and I no longer see anything to make me believe that Potter has the imagination or skills to make a difference in the second half.

Even if we get a huge injection of cash for players in January, does the manager have the ability to make a difference? and would anyone with the skills we need want to come to such a struggling team?

I want to believe, I want us to do well, but if you always do what you've always done, and then expect a different result, then you will always be disappointed.

Team on bad run with no sign of turning the corner comes under question from large sections of the fan base. It has happened here before numerous times and it happens at every other club as well.

In comparison GP has had it easy compared to others as he has not had the pressure or reaction of fans in the stadium to our woeful home form.

Very true. Can you imagine the atmosphere at home games this season with these results and performances? I honestly think GP would be close to, or possible out, the door.

He's run out of ideas. That team selection last night proves that.

I reckon that Arsenal last night would of lost to every team in the prem last night.

Like most on here I am pretty depressed after last night. We are left wondering where a goal is coming from. Also is GP the right man to take us forward.

Still we all need a sense of ballance. When all our strikers are clearly out of form it is difficult to see what the manager can do. He tried something different last night and to be fair for the 1st half it kind of worked except of course for scoring. Its not like we are not creating chances it is solely the conversion rate. It would be nice to find a good proven striker to bring in but Jan is always a difficult window for that.

I am in the minority I guess but would stick with GP and the project but accept how risky that is. If I could give GP 1 piece of advice it would be to decide on a striking partnership and stick with it until it works out. I think his own lack of confidence is leading him to firefighting when stability is key.

One other thing. Someone earlier said if the crowds were back Potter would be gone. This illustrates our fanbase issue. Fine to have a go on NSC but not at the game. Take Liverpool for example. If they are struggling in a game the fans just get more behind them rather than less. We need to be fans like that.

The biggest myth in football: the famous Anfield atmosphere. Its shyte most of the time, unless it's a big game. Liverpool have slightly less to worry about than us if they are losing a game, anyway.

He has run out of ideas.... the players are scared to play,.... over coached... too much "football psychology" ..... sideways and backward passing has become a pandemic in its own right.... we have Wolves away on Sat.... we will come 2nd for sure.... however.... big problem is that we have put him on that bloody 6 year contract for gods sake.... and he is only a year into that..... Tony may have to take his medicine and pay him off, and soon if we are to make the most of the Jan window.

Maupay and Welbeck would be my pick. For all his misses so far , Maupay is still on track for another 10+ goal season which is a good return at this level.

Think I would supplement that advice with bringing in a specialist set piece coach to try to sort out our obvious deficiencies in that area at both ends of the pitch.

I’ve only ever known the crowd at Albion turn on the team twice, being against Cardiff and Bournemouth, which, given the appalling performances then and the dross served up that season, demonstrated considerable patience I believe...

Don’t think that would apply this season. The performances have been fine most games. Just the results aren’t coming....
