Bird Eating Spider.

Also kudos to those double hard chickens in the background. Not flustered at all by sharing a space with a predator.

bird eating spider is a good shout....regularly takes down things bigger than it....things bigger than it that have the opportunity to fly away

Crown of Thorns Jellyfish - crown_of_thorns-jonhanson.jpg
The crown-of-thorns receives its name from venomous thorn-like spines that cover its upper surface.
Currently threatening the WHOLE of the Great Barrier Reef. Crabs come along, attack it, pull one of its arms off. What does it do? Re-grows the arm and carries on feeding.
Beastly.

needs seconding:
Wolf
Ant (needs to be more specific)
Blue Ringed Octopus
Box Jellyfish
Lachesis
Dog Whelk
Poison Dart Frog
Giraffe
Bombadier Beetle
Seagull
Tree Weta
Immortal Jellyfish
Stingray
King Cobra

Can I second the BULLDOG ant? It has been known to kill people and also exhibits all the hardness of a normal ant. Heavy lifting, killing things much bigger than itself etc
Most dangerous ant

And I'll second the Cobra and the Dart Frog too, as a hardest animal competition would be incomplete without these two heavyweights.

The Pompilid Wasp (Spider Wasp) - Lays its eggs in living spiders (hard-ass-mother-fucker) which hatch and eat the still-living spider from the inside out

Just read all about the DOG WHELK and I definitely reckon it should be in.

Jellyfish? I'd dispute whether IMMORTALITY constitutes hardness. Also a lack of sentience lets it down for me so I'm not bothered if it doesn't make it in.

agreed, they don't kill anyone on purpose...they just have a disease

a bit like saying that giving someone aids is hard because you've killed them...

Nice comparison, but fairly apt. They get my vote for the worst animal in the world..but not the hardest.

Point of note, Tom: The Crown of Thorns is a Starfish, rather than a Jelly. Ta

I'll go for the Box Jellyfish, a deadly mother fucker.

Wiki says: Although the box jellyfish has been called "the world's most venomous creature",[11] only a few species in the class have been confirmed to be involved in human deaths, and some species pose no serious threat at all. For example, the sting of Chiropsella bart only results in short-lived itching and mild pain.

The first sentence does it for me. Seconded and in.

Death Stalker Scorpion - Do you need anything besides the name to convince you?
Well, here you go, it's the most poisonous Scorpion in the world. And it's pretty tiny, so you can't see it. Regularly kills humans.

Did I mention it's known as the Death Stalker? Come on!

I'll second the giraffe as well, that fight on Africa last night opened my eyes to a world of possibilities.

I thank you very much.

The toughest longest neck in the animal kingdom. Mental fighting last night.
