What a load of bollocks! Hahaha!!! You obviously have no idea about Corinthians and why they were set up, please keep digging.

Angry man.

That comment I quoted about gentlemen not deliberately fouling their opponents was from their founder. Here's another from FIFA's potted history of the club: For their founders and their players, amateur ideals, gentlemanly conduct and fair play were of far greater consequence than the result.

Why am I angry? Because you talk a load of old tosh? I'm not angry my friend, I just find it funny that people don't know their history.

Bizarre. I've literally given you the Corinthian's raison d'etre as per their founder and also from FIFA. What part of this is me not knowing the history of the club?

Without feeling the need to Google, I know exactly what the Corinthians ethos was. To stay amateur and promote the need to be non professional. I think, if I remember, they once filled about 10 of the 11 places in the England squad, all amateurs. They wouldn't compete in certain competitions because of this. Cheating had f*ck all to do with their status.

Have you ever been there? Have you ever asked their committee why they are there? Have you ever read the walls in their clubhouse?

I was told by a then Div 1 ref that MikeTaylor of Dover was warned to watch out for Peter Ward conning him into giving a penalty by tripping himslef up, as he did it quite often, so it is nothing new

I cannot, ever, and I saw Wardy play many times, I can never remember him going down for a pen, please remind me.

He got loads but dont ask me to remember which games virtually every time Taylor refereed us he got one. Probably the easiest way is to see what games Nobby scored a penalty in. and go from there.

That would be Corinthian Casuals, formed in 1939 from Corinthian and Casuals. The original club was formed in 1882 with the ethos: “sportsmanship, fair play and playing for the love of the game

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...al-madrid-white-kit-cricket-football-the-oval

You see that bit about 'fair play', that bit about 'sportsmanship'? They were both integral parts of what the club founders believed in.

No, I haven't been to the ground, No, I haven't spoken to the committee. No, I haven't seen what is written on the walls but I have given you numerous times and from numerous sources, proof that the concept of fair play was fundamental to the club's formation and for how it behaved. If you're not happy with that then I think I'm done here.

Thanks for the master class, I know where to go in the future, why take it first hand when you can google it or take it from Buzzer... modern day information, can't beat it.

I have mentioned it but I really dont get why he does no play to his strengths, he is a bloody good player or should be, and just because we bring it up is nothing against Palace, he is a cheating **** its not because he says he hates us 11/10 he is a cheat, and anyone who says otherwise is, well- Palace.

So you can't remember even one time, ok.

A bit unfair seeing as it's over 40 years ago and all the instances blur into one, but I'll give you one example as we all laughed about it when it happened: it was against Mansfield Town in 1977/78. We won 5-1, one of those was a penalty where Ward went down as if he'd been shot. BG is quite correct, Ward did have a reputation for being, how can I put this delicately, a diving cheat who used to con refs. We all thought it was great.

The flip side of course was there were times when he genuinely was pole-axed and the refs, mindful of his reputation, didn't give anything.

I probably went to the Mansfield game and I can't for the life of me remember, so apologies. However I don't see Peter Ward being a Zaha, in fact I may just message Wardy, well his mrs and ask if he ever went down for one, I just can't see him being in Zaha's class of cheating.

What better for NYE than a bit of research, courtesy of @Hiney and John Vinnicombe/Tim Carder/Roger Harris

At random. games refereed by Michael Taylor of Walmer

Blackburn (h) April 1979. No penalties
Arsenal (h) 1979 No penalties
Ipswich (h) 1976 No penalties
Northampton (h) 1977 No penalties

Unless we had undocumented missed penalties or they were all away, you might need to clarify BG.

Sometimes, just sometimes, I really wish BG would talk out of his mouth and not his bottom, because I can guarantee he is a decent bloke.
