Actually when i say young in this context its people who are of working age. And yes that is a horrendous number. We need to do more to give people the right skills to land jobs in todays economy. To let people leave school with little english or maths skills is totlally unacceptable (and i point at both parties here). Without a growing capable workforce then we will accelerate our long economic and political descent

You are obviously not a teacher! We do not LET a proportion of young people leave school with little to show - proportion of young people come from families who have little interest in education and resist attempts to change habits of a lifetime! Yes, we do need to give people more skills etc but it assumes that this is what they actually want. Don't blame political parties -look at individual responsibility, or lack of.

How do you know my circumstances?
In my business, I am in daily competition with Chinese, Thai,Indian, Bangladeshi,Italian and American but I wouldn't use that as an excuse if my business failed. My kids can't afford houses in their home town,so they live in my house, but I don't blame migrants for that, I blame successive governments for allowing buy to let. My children, all in their twenties now, have many more ethnic friends than I have, which I see as a huge benefit,as they haven't grown up to be right wing racist reactionaries. My life has been saved by the NHS, where I have been treated and looked after by a myriad of nationalities, immigration affects every single person in this country on a daily basis, but some of us can see the huge amount of benefits that migrants have bought to this country over many many years. This is all without mentioning th five billion pounds of tax profit, they give to the United Kingdom

Nice speech agree with a fair bit, but as you and many others do not seem to be able to get it into your heads, immigration CONTROLLED is fine, uncontrolled is not.
As i work with many Eastern Europeans, i also get their views, many have been here for a number of years, they understand that the amount of immigration is excessive.
They are also worried about the influx of asylum seekers in their own countries.
I am actually working alongside two Nigerians, who happen to be Christian, they speak about the trouble in their country, they also know that i voted UKIP and the reasons behind it.
Yep, Latvians, Lithuanians, Romanians, Ukrainian, Bulgarians etc have all been on the site i am working on..........so i have a fair picture of what is going on.

Lets assume for one moment your business failed as a direct result of newly entered foreign competitors, perhaps with an advantage of lower costs, you would rightly feel aggrieved.

I am glad you are doing well, but as a successful businessman you should at least acknowledge the real risk of displacement of employment, 2 million new anybodies can effect that.

A little trite saying your children have ethnic friends, therefore saving them from a life of becoming racist reactionaries, silly comment.

I have seen family and friends go through the NHS with good outcomes too, many at a time when immigrants were rarely seen, the floors were cleaned, beds were made, operations successfully completed, it isnt just recently the NHS has been working you know.

The fiscal impact of immigration is complicated, depending on whether you are EU or Non EU and ages and skills effecting the final sums.

I think you have been rather convenient in your response, with respect. The kids have the obligatory ethic friends so they don't become right wing wacist reactionaries - so if I don't know anyone of an ethnic background, am I thus? And yes, your life was saved by the NHS with immigrants - might it not have been saved by any Western health organisation irrespective of its ethnic make-up? Then of course there is the very suspicious exact figure of 5 billion tax profit -of course immigrants who work legally pay tax, granted, but you fail to mention the stresses on the infrastructure, and of course the effect of wages being depressed as immigrants are exploited by unscrupulous employers eager to make an immoral profit. And of course you have some living at your home, as you see the benefit of immigration, or do you encourage hundreds of thousands to come here, assuming that someone, somewhere, somehow, will assimilate them.

I believe Busheys quote was that I wouldn't be so keen on immigration if I was directly affected by it, and I was just pointing out that me, you and every person in this country is affected in some way. My kids, because they have ethnic friends don't fear them as some older people do, which can only be a good thing. We all know the NHS would collapse without cheap migrant workers, even before we consider the third world doctors who work here, to the detriment of their own countries.
There are about 4000 illegals in Calais, trying to come here. Germany will settle about 800,000 this year, is it really beyond the wit of our Government to settle this matter, which, my personal opinion is that it has been blown up out of all proportion by vested interests in the media, and certain political parties

Building new homes is just a pipe dream and not only suffers from diminishing returns due to population density it doesn't deal with the problem, if anything will make it worse.

not sure how building homes makes the problem of expensive homes worse. the lack of housing stock is a major problem, not due to migrants but from 20-30 years of failure to build enough, because no one wants anything built near their precious little piece of England. yes, infrastructure needs to be improved too in order to support population increases in areas, still the issue of allowing the building to happen is greater than the costs. (people living with parents or families in too small houses put the same burdens on parts of the infrastructure)

With respect this is a very glib response to put it mildly. You live in Worthing and the fact that your kids have ethnic friends, whatever that means, is hardly a ringing endorsement of immigration on the scale we are witnessing, and is a lifetime away from living in areas of the country which have seen their neighbourhoods totally transformed. This is being very naïve. The Germans have that number of applications -that is not the same as you are claiming, and since I watch German TV most nights, I can assure you that taking in such numbers, if indeed they do, is not at all universally popular. And the government "should settle the matter" whatever that means - I assume you mean that we should let in who ever wishes to come, and please can they settle , well, not too close to me, as I don't want a hostel housing several hundred immigrants down my street, and I am sure that they would be far happier in Bradford.

This is pretty offensive to me.
I was brought up in a family of six kids, three of whom were of Indian descent.Although I don't see the two females anymore, I do still see the male, who I call my brother. My parents took all three kids as foster children when, to be an Asian in Sussex was not the easiest thing in the world, and, by association I was verbally, and on occasion physically abused as a "****** lover"
Please, do not assume that because I'm from Worthing that I know nothing of the uglier side of human nature

Could a lot of these new immigrants be persuaded to settle in the relatively low population of Scotland rather than the already crowded south east of England?

I am sorry but that this will not wash. I don't doubt your and your parent's sincerity for one moment, as I was called a Kraut at school in the 50s, my mum being German. But the issue here, with respect, is your attitude regarding immigration. Whatever your personal circumstances, the fact is that you and doubtless the vast majority in Worthing would not want their area transformed into a muslim or whatever town, as you well know. And to say that your kids have ethnic friends makes them Ok is simply ridiculous. I wave to a Polish chef at the nearby Travelodge when out dog walking, so that makes me morally superior to wacists.

Many developed and developing countires do better than us and therefore there are better solutions so it is a political issue. We do let that happen. We have not found the social and educational solution.

What a ridiculously glib response. Anyone could sweepingly come up with such a statement, which says nothing at all, other than designed to lend a bit of credence to one's viewpoint.

Non EU migration IS controlled, Asylum Seekers and refugees ARE controlled.

It is only the movement within the EU that is not controlled.

So is it only EU migration you have a problem with?

Immigration to the UK is not controlled, the net figure in the last year, taking into account the amount of people that emigrated like yourself, is around 330,000. Many in this small country feel that is too many. I suppose if you live in a country 30 times the size of England with about a quarter of the population, then you might not appreciate the problem facing us.
