After 23 miles to/from Saltdean and back, I'm completely googled. Bring on the 14th...

Just finished 11 miles around Shoreham-by-Sea - very strange being out at this time for this early morning runner. Seems milder tonight, thank goodness. Nice bit of sun with no breeze on the 14th would be perfect, thanks.

Four days off coming up. Was going to do a long run tomorrow but remembered I have a blood donor appointment. I figured 20 miles followed by losing a pint of blood might make for an uncomfortable evening.

So I'm reckoning on 10 or 12 in the morning, then a big 20 on Saturday, in the absence of any decent football action. Now just got to check the wearer forecast...

I haven't posted on this thread before, but thought I'd join in in the run up to the Brighton marathon - starting to taper the training down from next week and got the last really long run over with yesterday (20m around Birmingham :S). More to the point, looking forward to no more ice baths for a few weeks!

Edna, I'm no medical expert but you might want to think about postponing blood donation until after the Marathon. Check out some runners forums on the subject.

Hastings Half on Sunday. Forecast looks terrible. Not looking forward to this one. Anyone else?

I LOVE the Hastings Half, but I've gone for the 16-mile Breakfast Run in Kingston-upon-Thames on Sunday. Thought I'd better get some race atmosphere before Brighton, and this seemed like a decent opportunity to do something bigger than a half.

Good luck for Sunday, BG.

Arse. Too late  I'll be drinking plenty of fluids, and besides, I'm not exactly an elite runner, so I'll just plod my way round

Wilmslow half for me, and the weather looks crap - wind and freezing temps following lightfall snowfall on the Saturday evening. Can't see me hitting the time I've been targetting since the new year, and I'm going to be very annoyed that my hard training is likely to be scuppered by this freaky unseasonal weather.

Cranleigh 21 for me on Sunday.

Recommend enter another marathon 4-6 weeks afterBrighton. You have done the training, so if Brighton doesn't go well, you will have that long one in the bank. Done 3 full marathons so far this year. Then Brighton & then Copenhagen in May which I will be racing!

I've done it 3 or 4 times and really enjoy it too. Fear I may have to miss it if the forecast from Papa Lazarou on the More Snow Tomorrow thread is right. I'm not driving in the snow again in my stupid car. At least I got my race atmosphere in a longer race fix by doing the Worthing 20 a couple of weeks back.

Good luck to you in yours.

This. The Hastings Half is fantastic, one of my favourites, and the support is great..and quite varied from kids banging to saucepans to residents in an old people's home being wheeled out to see you run past. Do they still give you a horse brass at the end?

GPS Running Watch | Forerunner 10 will do that for you. I have a Garmin 305 and been very happy with it.

Garmins are superb - mine jumps around a bit, so you have to try to not become too obsessive.
Last biggie today - thank god ! Following the garmin sub four schedule - 10 mile at 10mins and 10 at 9 mins - for the first time ever i felt I was running strong at 18 miles - last one hurt but think that was just the psychology.
Also had all sorts of aches and pains this week, but legs feel fine now - strange.

Well done to anyone who got put there today. Kingston was cold - nice bit of snow along the way - but happy with a 2.06 finish time for the 16.

I'm glad the conversation of Garmins came up. Will invest in one after the marathon, I think. Seems better than my Nike+ device.

Aiming for my first sub 40min 10k in May, ran 40min 30 last year. Completed the first Brighton Marathon in 3hr 29 but then suffered a heart attack training for the 2011 race.just keep to the shorter distance's now
