Which Religion Is The Most Attractive

To a certain extent that is true. But there are limits. For example it doesn't matter how fervently you believe that eight-legged mushrooms built the great wall of china. It isn't true. There are and must be things that are true or false, irrespective of what people actually believe.

Depends which dimension you are viewing it from ;)

For all we know the eight legged mushrooms actually made stonehenge.

On piece of paper true enough.

But the concept has existed for a long, long time. Just back then it was a river, a valley or a outcrop of rocks that defined the boundaries.

Crossing them did have consequences though.

It's a reminder that we are very much part of the animal kingdom.

Just try moving your garden fence an inch into your neighbours garden. See if that starts a war or not. It is the reason war will never stop.

As an atheist, that wasn't the intent! Atheism is a point of view on one specific question - does God exist. An Atheist shouldn't claim that God doesn't exist. The only thing an Atheist can claim is that there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that God exists, which is true. The fact that there is no evidence to support "His" existence doesn't automatically mean that he doesn't exist.

No, you see, I beg to differ. An atheist - unlike an agnostic - specifically lacks any belief in any form of religious idea, and does not have any faith in there being a "God". Agnostics on the other hand, are more like the "sit on the fence" type of person that await further evidence for "God's" existence, which you seem to be describing.

Whilst I agree with you, there are some attractive concepts in Buddhism, the fact that marriage is a civil ceremony and you are still free to have sex with other people is one of them!

My second wedding was done by a registrar, but my ex-wife still thought this was acceptable!

Sadly, this is also completely wrong. Atheism is about one thing only - God. Not "religious ideas". The fact that there are such people as "Christian Atheists" seems to contradict your point. As I said above, and as someone else posted, agnosticism is about knowledge, not belief. Thousands of people who think they are agnostics apparently don't know the meaning of either "Atheist" or "agnostic".

Sorry, but this is all wrong. Atheism is about belief. If you believe in God, you are a theist. If you don't, you are an atheist. Agnosticism is about knowledge, not belief. An agnostic says "it's impossible to know either way." But in saying that, they have said nothing about whether they believe in God or not. In fact you have it backwards : most people who say they are agnostic are actually atheists. And yes an agnostic theist is a possibility.

And of course it follows that atheism is not a faith.

On the contrary, by your own argument, an agnostic atheist would be demonstrating faith. (i.e. A belief (or lack thereof), in something that is unknowable).

Religion is not about it being attractive but about being true. Therefore the best religion
in the World, posessing the fullness of truth and all necessary means of salvation, is the
one and only Roman-Catholicism.

I am Polish and Roman-Catholic, which means that I have drawn not one but two winning
tickets in the lottery of life. Most of you did not have the luck and privilege of being born
Polish, but you can still be Roman-Catholics. Contact your nearest Catholic parish for more
details on joining the One And Only, Holy and Apostolic Roman Catholic Church.

Good luck!

I just can't get my head round the concept of a "christian atheist". It must be a contradiction in terms, no? Surely, Christianity is built on the idea of there being a God - Jesus was supposedly the son of God, the Bible is based on God's actions...without the idea of "God", what are you left with?

Religion is all the bad things people have said on here. The only problem is without it, there is no hope.
People in a really bad way need something to cling onto. With no religion what would it be?

"The universe doesn't owe you a sense of hope" - Richard Dawkins.

I don't agree that we should believe in something without any evidence just because it makes you feel warm and fuzzy. There is more to truth than that.
