Someone Poyet may have looked at.. Darron Gibson? He's not getting much game time I don't think (although this could be down to injury). Picks a pass well for both the wingers and striker and not afraid to shoot.

Also, does Keith Fahey still play for blackburn, seem to remember experienced midfielder who ended up on the bench or reserves alot. But can't remember if he's any good or not!

Yeah I remembered about the whole Poyet Ferguson thing after i posted it. Nevertheless, a player like Gibson would be the most likely (and wanted) player to sign.

Fahey plays for Brum and is a quality player. Don't think it will be him seeing as they are in the same league as us. Although that was said about Paynter...

Gibson would absolutely fit the bill of a commanding box-to-box CM to play alongside Bridcutt. Is he injured? Struggling to see why he's featured so little in the last couple of years as he looked very promising in his debut season, and they're hardly brimming with quality in central midfield atm. Doubt he'd drop down to the Championship though, and as someone said I doubt Fergie's desperate to be doing Gus any favours right now.

Commanding CM who can do abit of defending to help Bridcutt but who can also slice the defence in half with a perfectly waited ball for CMS to knock away.

So the addmission that we need a loan player means that Gus is not happy with the squad even though most are now fit. Always thought that he wasn't keen on loan players.

Does this mean that he isn't happy with the new players he has signed, if Gus wants to balance the budget maybe we should send half his signings out on loan.

Loan players are bought in to change the team / squad we have had a loan player for the whole season and he hasn't played, now we sign him.

All a bit bizarre to me.

Agree, its like the Mark McGhee/Dick Knight show all over again. Constant hints of arriving signings, no delivery, followed by a list of nearly's who fell through last minute.
