Wideguy, anyone who pays good money for a ticket and is not allowed in is likely to be upset. I'm also willing to accept your view that you were not drunk. I'm also willing to accept some stewards are power-crazed. That all being true:

a) Is drinking (enough for people to spot that you've been drinking) going to make it more likely or less likely that you will be turned away?

b) Is making a joke (and with a comment that suggests your grip on reality is a bit weak) going to make it more likely or less likely that you will be turned away?

I would be hugely pissed off but there are repercusions for what we say and do in life in all things. A hard lesson to learn.

Do you have 'NAIVE' tattooed across your forehead Uncle? Everytime, whether it's Bars Mar, or this joker, you fall for the bullsh*t.

I think it was the smell of booze and the unwise comment on top of it. To be honest the steward who stopped you going in is probably watching Rambo 4 and wanking mimself silly and having a power trip but its done and dusted now and nothing can be done about it.

Oop North he might have got away with a bit of banter with the steward but like anywhere if you look pissed or you reek of booze the chances of getting in are very small.

:nono: That is not on. I had to stand next to a drunk twat at Orient and it was pathetic, he was a disgrace. I like a drink, but I can't stand the people who get pissed before a match. Absolute joke, no sympathy for anyone who is drunk at football.

Likewise Ninja, a couple of years ago we played Derby away on the first day of the season...loads of people came into the ground late, no doubt having partaken of a few sociables at a local pub...there was a big mix up over tickets, namely whether it was free seating or by numbered ticket, people (drunks) were wandering around trying to find the seat named on their ticket...only to find someone already sat in it. At the time this was going on the majority of us were standing and the stewards, ala Withdean, were doing their level best to get everyone to sit down...anyway, this really drunken women decided that she was going to stand right in front of me and spent the best part of ten minutes spoiling my view and treading on my shoes before we all sat down and she had no choice but to move elsewhere...it is little consolation to know that had the game been played at Withdean she would have been refused entry.

You're not the 1st and certainly not the last , learn from your experience today or otherwise you'll just be a muppet for the rest of your life.
