I don’t think it’s run its course. A kid recently asked me which team I support and when I told him he asked why on earth would I support Brighton when I could choose just about anyone else. I think though he was struggling with the concept of living in Birkenhead not having been born here.
On the other hand many of my taxi drivers are very respectful of our current team and not too many Evertonians are optimistic about next week.

Fans of Chelsea, Tottenham & Arsenal always consider Albion as a mickey mouse club, as they seem to thinks its there god given right to be playing the CL every year against your Real Madrid's and Juventus. Brighton games are "fillers" for them. It's more the newbie brigade fans though as old timers give respect, remembering the early 80's etc and the crowds we used to cram in at the Goldstone. We have always been a well supported club in general, even in the dark days.

Newcastle/West Ham fans are very suspect also in considering us tinpot. I used to work with a Hammer who used to say to me every time we played them " Well, its your cup final" forgetting that we have spent a number of seasons playing them in the Second Division over the years and beating them.

I've met many Liverpudlians in the past and generally are very knowledgeable and friendly. I've met three from Birkenhead and had to count my fingers after shaking their hands. Not wishing to tar them all with the same brush and maybe it's got better in the last twenty years.

No, it’s a fair point. A bit rough round the edges definitely and at the moment seems to be embroiled in a gang war with the recent shootings in Wallasey, Moreton and Woodchurch. There is definitely a postcode thing with people from the North End, Wallasey and Rock Ferry sticking to their own areas. I don’t think the other side of the river is a lot better in that regard though with places like Bootle and Kirkdale. Luckily both have lots of redeeming features that outweigh the negatives and there are lots of lovely areas. We enjoy living here and will retire here.

We are still (way) under the radar and the latest ‘novelty’ side in the EPL for MOST fans and pundits. Seen us described recently as Southampton Mk2. If we beat the top 6/7 regularly we’ll get our 15 minutes of fame. Leicester City won the PL in the last decade and they have tried to break the top 6 and it’s almost f***ed them. We do have a long-term fan and a Brighton-born-billionaire chairman. It’ll take several years of top-European football for us to be anything other than #teamslikebrighton. 1. There's the Big 6 and the only way you break into that tier for a sustained period of time is being acquired by a Middle Eastern country.
2. There's the Tier 2 clubs who have been established top flight clubs for much of their history, but are not Top 6. Tier 2 clubs are Everton, West Ham, Newcastle, Leeds, Villa. Man City were in this tier until they got taken over by a Middle Eastern country.
3. Tier 3 is where we are now. Clubs that have got a foothold in the Prem, have been in for a few years and upset the big boys from time to time so deserve respect, i.e. us, Palace, Wolves, Southampton.
4. Tier 4 are yoyo clubs like Fulham, Norwich, Burnley, Watford, Bournemouth, WBA or chancers like Brentford, Cardiff, Hull, Huddersfield.
