Sick note Lallana has played more minutes than Bissouma this season. And Webster & Lamptey.

Personally I’m far more concerned about Webster overall fitness than Lallana, especially given the outlay. All his injuries seem to be muscular and the current one seems to be a mix of them

I agree.
Webbo has quite a history of injuries throughout his career and it is obvious from our results that we miss him enormously. I think the stats state that he’s missed 15 games this season. This must be of considerable concern to both himself and the club.
Let us hope he’s back after the break and can stay fit.

Which makes the decision to sell White and Burn all the more ridiculous.

I know that's slightly off topic for this thread - but even so...

I can understand the sale of White for an amazing £50million, but the Burn sale, no.
Back to Lallana; it was always going to be a bit of a gamble with his injury record. There must be a limit to how useful his off the pitch and dressing room leadership is to the club and his on the pitch playing time is going to be limited. I’d be very surprised if he plays on for another 2 or 3 years which I believe is his stated aim.
I don’t know what I would spend the bonus on. I don’t suppose there would have been one today, but if there was, I reckon I would have to donate it to a worthwhile charity.
I understand Andy Murray is donating all his winnings to a Ukrainian charity.

The rumours are Lallana is the highest wage earner at the club. The sort of wages which would attract a 30 million striker. If that's true then we've properly cocked up with his signing. I'd rather we show a genuine pathway to Alzate, Caicedo and the coming generation of midfielders

Obviously he's a class ball player in the middle of the park, a good professional and a good talker and probably leader in the dressing room, but has barely contributed in the final third. You always have to keep a sub back as he could go down at any time.

And you can't ignore his finishing, it wouldn't get him in a pub team

As I said in another thread, to play our seemingly preferred formation of 3 at the back we need 5 or 6 who can play Potterball in this position. Selling White and Burn and not replacing them, either with new signings or from the u23, now seems a poor decision.

I (and I suspect others) assumed that as we were happy to let Burn go, that Roberts and/or Clarke had shown enough to be ready to get involved and slot in if needed.

That’s clearly not the case, and while I wish Burn well, I also wish we’d kept him for the season if we didn’t have ready made cover among the young ‘uns.

At the time I thought it was a bit of a risk but on balance a good bit of business. With hindsight I was wrong. And whilst we will never know, I do wonder how many points, league places and in turn EPL prize money, Burns departure will ultimately cost. Maybe the 13 million won’t be worth 13 million at the end of the season…if you get my drift.

I thought exactly the same and was also wrong. Events have shown that letting Burn go was a huge mistake that has definitely contributed to the current situation.

He didn't cost anything though. His higher wages even over the course of say 3 years, would probably be less than a £1.5m transfer fee. Same with Welbeck. Even with injury problems, their appearances against cost probably isn't that bad.

As for a genuine pathway for Alzate - how on earth do you figure he's not had one!?

This.

He’s a great player, but we need to sort out his injuries and if there is an inkling of doubt leave him out.

I dont see a world where his injuries are "sorted out" at this age... if he can be available as much as he has this season so far, I think we need to be happy with that. 30 games last season and 21 so far this season, both of those numbers is a lot better than I expect when he signed his contract.

Guessing next season will be his last one, at least in Brighton, but overall I think he has done well. Not great goal creation stats but the team seems to play better whenever he OR Gross are on the pitch.

Such a shame as he’s our best/most influential player when fit. Until his last injury he was also doing ok and near the top in terms of minutes played but he’s slipping down the list now (9th in the squad, similar no. of minutes to Biss after being 5th a few weeks ago)

Great stat that. I'd have never believed it. Wellbeck down in 17th is more the problem. And Webster 14th. That's a real problem.

The 2.5 week break after Spurs should help Lallana as well..

Lallana is a blocker to our other players and his value is off the pitch, not on it. Another ridiculous cameo on Saturday.

He hasn't actually missed that many games this season (only 7 games, 4 of which he was on the bench). Interestingly we've only taken 4 points - and not won when he hasn't played this season. So not exactly sure what he is blocking, but it certainly isn't match winners wanting to step up and take his place

He is the reason that Mac Allister is in and out, why Alzate only gets a game from time to time and why Gross also can't get a run in the team. If any of those three got a regular run in the team, the way Lallana does if he's fit enough, I'm sure any of them would add more to the team. Lallana's a quality player, but you can't rely on him and he's not got that much longer left at the top level. It frustrates me that he gets to play so much.

We just had a run of 3 games where Lallana didn't start. How has that turned out?
