The passing of Steve Wright had me in a very reflective mood.

I grew up in the 70s with household names. We would all have had a favourite.

I was introduced to Radio 1 in the late 70s and listened regularly for 4 or 5 years. Then there was the roadshows.

I think my favourite was Peter Powell, and Tom Browne for Sunday nights.

As a point to note- Mixcloud has bundles of whole shows from the 70s and 80s. Worth a look.

Talking of roadshows, I attended the Sandown edition in 1982 with my late brother. The whole production is on video in YouTube. We are so blessed these things are never lost.

Wow, there's a name.

I recall Stuart on RL, and when his illness progressed his wife did the show with him iirc.

Cerys could read the Periodic Table and give me palpitations.
