Would drums / other musical instruments be allowed at Withdean?

i think everyone should HAVE to bring a different instrument, and each person is designated a specific instrument by the club, if they fail to bring it, they are not allowed in, if they bring the wrong one, they are not allowed in

simple

and song sheets provided by the club

Terrible idea, those "Great Escape" spacks ruin England games, monotonous and completely stupid. And look how well his loon and his ragtag band of idiots have spurred Pompey on to greatness. I watch Portsmouth on the telly with the volume turned down

Are you trying to find similarities between England and Portsmouth games with ones played at Withdean??? A slightly odd comparison.

I think it would be a 'terrible idea' NOT to consider drums or something at least. The current 'atmosphere' at Withdean is insufferable.

I can see now how comparing football stadia with other football stadia could be confusing. If you think having a twat with a drum at the bottom of the South Stand is somehow going to make our home games like those of Boca Juniors then good luck to you.

Let me put it like this, if I paid £25 a game to have some bellend rattle a drum in my ear for 90 minutes he's be leaving the game wearing the f***ing thing. Anyone with a bell would have ringing noises coming out of their arse every step of the way home.

If I want to watch a football match I go to a football stadium, if I want to listen to music I go to a concert or a performance.

just try taking his drum or air horn away.....!!!!! you can say what you like about the fella but he is better known around the world than our club.and i believe that may be FACT...!!

Other facts about John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood that are pretty much known around the FOOTBALL world:

He's been evicted from grounds for constantly chanting racial abuse at opposing players

He pisses himself in his seat

On balance, the 'No's' are in the majority.
I read on hear that there are certain NSC's who have closer links to the club, i.e. knowing Paul (Insider). So are the club concerned about the lack of noise?
Apologies, I know this has been discussed on threads before, but it is the worst I have known it. It would great to leave Withdean on a 'high' next season.
However, I totally agree with many of you have said before - If the players give us something to shout about, there is a bit more noise!

Your last paragraph is a little confusing. It suggests you want to watch football in a stadium but neglects to say whether or not you're concerned about atmosphere? I take it you don't go to away games?

Regarding your first paragraph, would it make any difference if the drummer wasn't a 'twat'?

He has got a lifetime ban from St Marys for urinating over the seats.

Your logic is flawed. From the information I gave you have wrongly concluded:

A) I seem to be unconcerned about "atmosphere"
B) I don't go to away games
C) I might consider the necessity of a percussion section at Withdean if the drummer wasn't a twat.

What I actually said:

A) I enjoy watching football, I do not wish to be distracted by (usually ill-trained and untalented) musicians with instruments. Nowhere did I mention an aversion to shouting, singing, chanting, swearing, shouting abuse or gesticulating - traditional forms of atmosphere creating at football grounds.
B) I like atmosphere at a ground, I don't consider "The Great Escape" replayed for 90 minutes to be "atmosphere", nor would I consider any form of drumming/bells/percussion in the stand at Withdean as "atmosphere". I would consider it highly f***ing annoying, as it is at Fratton Park.
C) I go to away games, how you deduced I didn't wasn't logical. How can you come to that conclusion from my stated aversion to drumming at football? Check your premises, your conclusions do not follow from them. Illogical.

In answer to your last question - the mere fact a person would take a drum to a football match would automatically, in my opinion of course, make him/her a twat.

That told me!! Sorry if it appeared I assumed, remember what happens if you break that word down!

Having been to Meadow Lane for Notts County's fouth round FA cup fixture v Wigan the weekend before last, I was very impressed with the atmosphere and energy generated in the Kop. It was non-stop noise and rivalled most away days with Brighton. Do you know what else was present in the deafening KOP? A drum!

The drum wasn't annoying, I know what you mean about the noises used at Fratton Park. Don't they use one at White Hart Lane just before they shout, 'Yids'?

To prefer Withdean without a drum is surprising. The south stand is hopeless and soul-destroying.

I'm sure you will come back with something...

.....only to say we all have different opinions on the matter, it's nothing personal. Your opinion is as valid as mine of course. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one

Perhaps Falmer may have it's own drum section, I'll have to make sure it's far away from me

Surely a Violin would be more appropriate at Withdean?

Anything that improves the home form MUST be considered.

If we contimue to lose week in, week out at home, we WILL go down. Our excellent away form will not go on for ever.

Why don't the club have a quiet word with the Stewards, and simply let them allow H block to stand? A few more like minded people might then go there too (There's plenty of room!)

The away fans stand all game, so they can't say "It's an all seater stadium" - It doesn't wash if you alllow 15% of the crowd (the away fans) to stand, and yet not permit standing for a section of home fans.

Plenty of clubs simply turn a blind eye to standing - you only have to watch MOTD to see that, how many clubs have actually been fined/had sections of the ground shut for people standing?

We need to improve the home form, and if allowing H block to stand help's achieve this then let 'em do it..........

I think we can try , try and try all we like and improve the atmospere at Withdean. But i'm afraid without a roof , nothing , nothing will work.Even if we all took a flare, bass drum it would have the same effect.....slowly drifting out of the ground.

The South stand at the Goldstone had more atmosphere than the whole of withdean. (for those who remember)
