El Abd is a perfectly good back up RB, Lynch is a liabilty at LB and you are assuming Livermore is a decent back up, have you seen him play there?

I'd trust MA's judgement over the hysteria on here about Mayo. I'm not a big fan of his but he is not the shite player you and some others on here are suggesting.

i have not, but you have to assume he is competent there as he has been announced as a centre midfielder who can also play across the back line, namely LB.

i don't believe i have gone on too much about how shit mayo is, however, after releasing him, resigning him would be a massive mistake in my humble opinion.

Just to clarify. I am NOT advocating signing Kerry but I can see the thinking behind it :annoyed:

Two halves that totally summed up our situation. In the first half, with arguably most of our first-choice players on the pitch, we looked a decent side. McLeod is promising. He doesn't seem to have a great deal of pace to beat a man, but he's very keen to get on the ball and releases it into the box very quickly. His crossing looks excellent, and because he does it so early he doesn't really need to beat the full-back. Hawkins looks a complete ANIMAL. I love him already. Adam El-Abd take note, our Colin's got all the attributes to be a proper hard-man. No other complaints with the first half, maybe apart from Fraser who was fairly anonymous.

Second half, different story. Worthing weren't actually capable of getting a shot in on our goal, but in general play they competed quite successfully. In my opinion that half just goes to show our back-up players aren't even remotely close to being good enough. Gatting, I presume, was on a wind-up upfront. At least I hope that wasn't him actually trying. Dixon was fairly poor, so too most of the midfield. Mayo looks as out of shape as ever, and as someone else said I too am f***ing sick of seeing his long balls down the left hand side drift harmlessly out of play with no albion player in sight. It's going to be a HUGE step backwards when he signs, and one Micky will lose a lot of respect from the fans over.
You are aware that Colin Hawkins came on at half time?

In all honesty, if I was Kerry Mayo, I'd be off busting my arse trying to get a deal at a completely different club. Whatever you think of his abilities, if he gets another deal with us surely it'll be just a year playing mostly reserve football with occasional cameo appearances on the bench & in the JPT, with everyone moaning & groaning when he comes on. Surely the best thing for him is to make a complete break, to go and get regular football for Gillingham or Aldershot or Orient?

if we can get richards for free, which has been widely reported, why on earth are we considering giving a new contract to his deputy from last season, above him?!

Absolute crap, Mayo is a good player, maybe less pace than a younger left back, but solid and will always do a good job. This hysteria over Mayo is not right, if Adams thinks he is worth a year then he knows his playing budget and I for one (and appear to be in the minority) would be more than happy to see him playing at left back. At least you know the club and the people mean a lot to him.

I can't remember him having a good game.

I dont remember him having a bad game. I didn't go to Southend though so can't comment on that one.

To reply to Badger, yeah he couldn't get in the team until the injuries came along to Richards but as I've already said I would rather have Richards than Mayo.

Also lets not forget that we did have an idiot in charge last year so I don't think we can say too much about team selection.

Good question that leads me to believe that Richards will not be returning.

I think most fans (not me) will be happy though as clearly it's a backwards step signing players that have played for us before.

Please note the sarcasm!!!!!!!!
