Who is going down with WBA & Sheffield Utd? Fulham? Newcastle? BHA?

Based on last night it has to be Newcastle. With Wilson and ASM out they look the very definition of toothless but I also believe Bruce has "lost the dressing room".

The only nagging doubt is that they look VERY much like us in Chris Hughton's last months in the games against Bournemouth and Cardiff. We survived that - and they may (well) yet sack Bruce.

If Newcastle finish the season in the same way we finished 2018/19 - they will lose 6 of their last 9 and draw 3 finishing on 31 points.

Newcastle had absolutely nothing about them last night, they’re not going to change the manager and have an awful run-in. Fulham play decent football and are trying to have a go. If it does go down to the last day of the season Fulham would comfortably beat them I would imagine.

They have similar issues: play nice football, see plenty of the ball, but struggle to score. Every season, one of the relegation candidates goes on a half decent run from about January onwards, and everyone thinks they're going to sustain that. I remember Swansea doing it when Carlos Carvahal came in a few seasons ago. But it's not usually sustainable for months on end- these teams are where they are for a reason. Swansea promptly lost a home six pointer to Southampton, who effectively saved themselves in the process having earlier looked dead certs to drop into the bottom three under Mark Hughes.

I wonder if Fulham are this season's Swansea and Newcastle the Saints.

Agreed. Fulham have 23 goals out of 30 games. They've got 2 fewer points than Newcastle, and have played one more game. Parker has an amazing selection of padded jackets, which has to condemn them.

I think we'll see an improvement in Newcastle once ASM and Wilson are fit, but that would probably just bring them in line with Fulham in terms of quality of play. So because Newcastle have the trickier run in I think its them for the drop and Fulham stay up.

I’d prefer Newcastle to go because their fans are delusional, their owner is a prize wanker and I still don’t know how they still get away with sticking away fans up in the clouds. However mainly because they ‘could’ get it right and therefore be stronger than us. Whereas Fulham have too many loan players and remind me of Huddersfield, they either need to sign some and basically spend money to stand still or rotate/replace them, either option is not strategic. They are a surer bet for us to finish above next season. It’s also a great close away so I hope they stay up.

Really? Ashley gave Bruce a vote of confidence yesterday, he will be in charge of their next match at least going by that.

What I find odd is that Newcastle play in a broadly similar way under Bruce, who they hate, to what they did under Benitez who was seen as some kind of tactical genius. Bruce doesn't have a lot to work with especially with Wilson injured. If the answer off the bench is Jeff Hendrick, the question is probably "Whose playing Championship football next year?

After Saturday, Newcastle must be favourites for relegation over Fulham who play decent football.
Bruce’s idea of tactics belong in a bygone age and the players seem to have given up the ghost. No interest. No competition.
Ashley won’t spend money to buy out Bruce’s contract & his coaching team. He will just cross his fingers and hope Fulham don’t win that one extra game - and remember they play each other the last game of the season!
They’ll have Wilson back but they’ll miss Hayden more. He’s been the glue that’s held their midfield together. Saint-Maximin will struggle to be as explosive on return and has few games left to regain fitness. I’ve a number of Toon family & friends but I really fear for their chances

5 of Burnley's fixtures are the same as ours.

If we look at the other 4... Burnley have Southampton away, Newcastle at home, Fulham away and Liverpool away.

It is a bonus that if Burnley win the first 3 of those games then their 3 oponents are all getting nul point.

Southampton are just woeful. Not sure any of their fixtures will prove easy.

Bruce has not only lost matches but appears to have lost the dressing room. Fulham seem to have some spirit and a manager they believe in. It'll be a team wearing black and white that goes down, but not the one that plays by the Thames.
