Seeing as it's your thread, I'd have thought you would be keen for serious suggestions! Rule the World will be as much of a masterpiece in 2107 as it was when it was released in 2007.

I can't wait for Gary to fully replace that saggy-faced, whiny-voiced scouser as the country's musical icon:O

If you hadn't suggested the Beatles I would have stayed serious. Some of their stuff does sound dated but plenty doesn't and seeing as they have such a massive catelogue of music it's obvious that some sounds dated

For me it would be the Moody Blues - although I would not be sure they were ever that cool.

Yeh! I went to see the Moodies at the Albert Hall a couple of years ago - well past their sell-by date unfortunately. Never again.

Oasis and Blur? I was never a big fan but I do still like quite a few of their popular songs, even today.

I listened to Modern Life is Rubbish the other day, it still sounds fantastic.

Oh my word. That is brilliant. Can I come?

Is this the Japan leg of the Catalogue gigs? Which one you seeing?

I'm woefully out of touch...it's a 'regular' 3D gig in Holland. Enjoy. Saw them earlier this year in an art gallery in Dussledorf and they were wonderful.

3D show in Eindhoven. Kraftwerk requested the venue themselves. Normally it's just used for conferences and events organised by Philips, who own the building.

Just bought tickets to see them support Fields of the Nephilim.

I wonder what colour clothing I should wear to the gig...........

I had a jacket go missing from the cloakrooms at The Astoria at one of their gigs, the bloke on the desk asked me what colour it was.

I have to agree about the Beatles. Never saw the appeal and still don't. People say it was because it changed the face of music. Oh. They sound like all the other mop top, shoulder swinging, groovers of the 50's and 60's. John Lennon was a ****ing idiot too.

Most early 90's Hip Hop sounds awful now.

Brilliant.

I am seeing Placebo on the Saturday and Field of the Neph/Mission on the Sunday, may have to stock up on eyeliner.

How much of their oeuvre have you actually listened to?

They sound nothing like most of the stuff that came out in the 1960's which would have been Rock and Roll.

And they were the original mop top shoulder swinging groovers of the 1960's, so if they sound like all the others, it's because all the others copied them - Q.E.D. in terms of changed the face of music.

Although the reality was probably a lot more subtle than that.

Like the Complete Badger above, I doubt you have ears or, if you have, you don't use them. Or rather, if you don't like them, fair enough, but most people would realise they were, to put it mildly, fairly influential.

Alternatively the Nibster could be on a wind up.
