I also remember considering Mike Small an immensely unsatisfactory signing. How wrong I was!

i don't think many players have ever surprised me by being better than I initially thought, except perhaps Bridcutt but who saw that coming?! Another was Darren Currie who was much more effective than the laid back flair maestro I thought he'd be.

A few have disappointed me...

-Diego Arismendi
-Nick Ward
-Federico Turienzo
-Cristian Baz/Agustein Battipedi
-Geoff Pitcher
-David Livermore

Alan Duffy....sensational debut....downhill after that.
Justin Fashanu....thought he would be brilliant...just the opposite.
John Crumplin...a veritable phoenix rising from the ashes of a career as an appalling winger to a full-back with John Barnes in your back pocket.
Guy Butters...thought he was slow, immobile and a right lump...v pleasantly surprised.
Paul Kitson...expected a goal machine...got very, very few.
Will Hoskins...so excited after seeing his display for Rovers v us....thought he would storm the Championship....maybe harsh on Hoskins with his injury record.
Ryan Harley...as per Hoskins...thought he would run our midfield and be our deadball specialist....all desperately disappointing after that Posh free-kick.
Will Buckley...after that debut, expected quality and consistency...got far too little of either.

Looking back I think I had a Micky Small man crush long before such things were ever talked about.

His play-off performance v Millwall pretty much iced the cake.

Justin Fashanu - thought he was what was required.
CMS - was delighted when he signed, but a big disappointment for me.

Batti and Baz, thought Gus had got a couple of little gems we would would sell for big bucks.

Ryan Harley, really thought he would do well. That thought changed very quickly.

Must be plenty more that I've conveniently forgotten.

Dale Jasper. When he first played for us I thought he was shit and it was only once he had played 7 or 8 games I realised he was f****** shit.

I thought he'd get us promoted.

Wayne Bridge: Thought he had come here because he was pushed out so he could earn himself one last payday, assumed he would be unintrested and that he was a bit of a nob. How wrong I was.

Yup, me too. Outstanding for us.

Had moderately high hopes for Obika last season. That didn't go so well. :lolol:

We had a glut of allegedly good players, by our standards at the time, who disappointed under Adams Mk2 - Robbie Savage being one.

I never understood that when people slagged Savage off. He came here for match fitness, did the simple things well and yes that was about it, but, crikey there have been so many worse players.

Ryan Harley.
Remember him having a good game against us at St James Park, so thought he be a great signing

Worse yes there have been many but I did expect Savage to have more about him.
