How the **** is it a ploughman's then?
Sorry. I didn't realise this was something I had an opinion on until about 5minutes ago. Don't feel any need to engage with me having a minor meltdown over it.
I was brought up choosing between ham or cheese…….adding the pork pie option was a revelation
Until I opened this thread, I didn't even realise you had to specify a cheese ploughman's.
Mind blown.

A ploughman’s should only have cheese . Why is this country obsessed with putting ham or pork into everything . I’m assuming because it’s a cheap meat unlike beef for instance .

I am with you on this. I thought a Ploughman's was bread, cheese, butter, maybe a pickled onion. However I once had a ploughmans that had no cheese. When I asked they said "oh you want a cheese ploughmans". Seems like an oxymoron but it's a thing apparently, hence the thread title.

To give you a guide as to where my head is at with this picture:
Bread - yes
Cheese - yes, but has to be English cheese
Pickle sauce - okay, but I personally don't like it
Pickled onions - yes
Gerkins - no, it's not a burger
Scotch egg - I could just about get on board with that being included
Cucmber/raddish/tomato - yes, feels English
Ham - maybe but not if a scotch egg or a pork pie is on the plate
Pork Pie - only if no ham or scotch egg
Lettuce - no, whats the point, I don't want to use a knife or fork
Grapes - no
Apple - possibly, if there has to be a fruit in this that would be the only one I'd accept
Lemon - not sure if that is a lemon or a very yellow apple, but it would be a no
Yellow sauce stuff - not keen, but I'd accept it is a reasnable accompaniment, just not for me
Not that it's in the picture but on the drinks front it's easy:
Cider - yes
Anything else - no

That 'Yellow sauce stuff' is Piccalilli, the food of the Gods
I agree that the Ham could be considered a little over the top, though
