I am clearly a philistine because Captain Corelli’s Mandolin bored the arse off me.

Same here.

You definitely get media driven mini crazes over movies. Independence Day was another one, at the time people talked in terms of it being one of the greatest movies …. it wasn’t.

Indeed, I know grown men with grown up kids who were excited about going to watch the Barbie movie. How the f*** can that be?
Disclaimer - I have not watched it, it may be an all time great

Jaws 2 ,I was kinda hoping Quint survived by singing his way out of Sharkey's arse as a plot twist to relieve the utter boredom and disappointment at the worst sequel to a superb original ever.

I went to a showing of Monty Python's Holy Grail or whatever exactly it's called the other day.

Now, it's a great film. I think I've seen it all the way through once before and obviously various bits loads of times over the years.

At the start they had a load of clips of the Pythons going on about how great it was that we were all at the cinema watching the film as a communal thing in a cinema yadayadayada etc.

The absolute berks next to me then spent the whole film quoting lines to each other just before they were delivered and giggling at their own tepid and wrank and second hand "wit", like the mindless pricks they were.

Christ I hate people sometimes.
obviously the Berks weren't the Messiah, just naughty boys

But that's another film

Gladiator 2 was a very, very poor watch.

Ridley Scott is another George Lucas. Once the best in the game, now bonkers.
I don't mind directors being a bit free and easy with historical detail in popular films but at some points Gladiator 2 insulted our intelligence. There is an ariel view of Rome which includes the Wedding Cake which was built in the 19th Century, also someone reads a printed newspaper. Apart from that it was boringly predictable.

Like A Minecraft Movie, it's a film I went to watch at the cinema with trepidation, but was pleasantly surprised by it being not entirely rubbish. I managed to stay awake for the full duration of each of them, so I consider that a triumph. Moana 2, however, I saw about 20 minutes of...

Barbie was a guilty pleasure. I never thought a 60 year old man would go and see Barbie but it was great. Far better than it had any right to be and quite deep in many ways

This. I guess I just really don't get Wes Anderson because I honestly don't think I've enjoyed any of his movies. And Asteroid City was the worse. It's all style over substance. I was waiting for it to start actually making sense, but it never did. Plus it's another of those self indulgent stories about storytelling. Utter tosh.

But it did have Scarlett Johansson with her top off. So...8 out of 10.
I would suggest you watch The Grand Budapest Hotel... that's brilliant !
