l' d say the period when you have a bit of financial freedom and still able to date / socialise / burn the candle at both ends without it looking like a midlife crisis. or the minute you buy a volvo, it;s game over i'm afraid

Twenties, but sadly you do not realise just how good it was until it is gone. That said, I think my mob (Gen X) and the boomers had it even better than today’s crowd. We actually had freedom.

Interesting that a lot of people say 20's for the fun and freedom. I agree, but I'm still living my 20's life into my 40's just with a much better job and a job I can do anywhere in the world, which I take full advantage of !!

One of the best things I did as well was take advantage of IT contracting in the glory years, investing the proceeds wisely and setting myself up to not have to rely on working too hard down the line. I have always worked just hard enough to enjoy my work, earn enough, but not go too far up the career ladder where the stress outweighs the extra money.

That was a pretty accurate guess.

It's an attitude that sits hard with me. For most of my 20s, I was pretty miserable. I was single for pretty much most of it and, after leaving university, I spent the next few years in boring, badly paid jobs or unemployed. My teenage years were even more miserable, by my 20th birthday I was taking a variety of drugs to battle depression and while my months before going to uni were pretty good and college years were OK, it took nearly five years for me.

As people have indicated on this thread, many people in their 20s were having a whale of a time, which made things worse for me. It's not their fault, of course, but I think it does indicate that different people have very different experiences in life.
But you were in Brighton Riot Squad! 😲 :lolol:

I actually have a lot of sympathy with your view. I certainly wouldn't want to relive my teenage years, and my twenties, whilst not as miserable as yours, were a time of stress, both work and social. (Following the Albion was 'better' though as it was all new). Certainly wouldn't pick them as my favourite.

I haven't voted in the poll, but if I did I'd almost pick my current decade: sixties. There are obvious drawbacks and ongoing issues, but on balance I've made peace with myself and I'm in a 'good place', which hasn't always been the case.

That was the brief respite :lolol: It was also the year that the Albion got promoted from Div 3, the year I got my first girlfriend and the year I went to uni. But it didn't last: there were a lot of family issues going on and my health wasn't great - I came very close to abandoning uni. I really didn't have a great time.

Yes, life has definitely got better as I got older.

Love this question.
Childhood, meh.
Teens, pretty shit.
20s were amazing for freedom, single, no kids, living in the alps having an amazing time but cash poor and reliant on seasonal work with accommodation to live.
30s were different, got married, had child, earned decent money but most of it went into building a home and family and no real time for anything else.
40s are early days, but more money, less time with the added negative of the years bike and snowboard crashes starting to take their toll.
