[Misc] What Book are you Currently Reading?

I have almost finished it. It’s not quite as good as the Three Musketeers I don’t think, but it’s still very good. It’s nice to see the characters change and their motivations.

The way Dumas writes is exceptional. I think the Count of Monte Cristo is possibly the best I’ve ever read, but both of these aren’t as good as that. I want to read everything he has written, so it’ll be the Man in the Iron Mask next I think.

Just a shame I have to read a translation.

I'm re-reading Musketeers but I'm reading it in French this time as I've only read it in English. My French is good but not fluent, so I have to keep stopping to look a word up (which often is an obscure item of clothing or something to with horses).

I'm still enjoying it though

16th book in the Roy Grace series, by far the worst one I have read, I’m just over 3/4 way through and Grace hardly gets a mention.
Struggling with this one TBH.

I just about made it through, due to dogged determination! Absolute toilet.

The new one is out now and thankfully appears to be a return to form.

Re-reading Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks, above all for the quality of the writing, superlative prose, epic love story beautifully written. Like that other ‘luvvie’ Russell Brand, Faulks is a West Ham fan.

Jerusalem - Alan Moore.

Intimidatingly long. Fantastically written.
Yes counts in the fantasy genre but layered with many forgotten episodes from our history, a hefty dollop of theology and packed with that literary rarity of well fleshed working class protagonists.
Just about half way through and certain I'll be rereading it.
