England close the third day on 373-6 (124 overs)

Root 118* and Buttler 4*

98 overs today, with England scoring 299 runs for 6 wickets

Leading by 73 runs, with two days to play, and 4 wickets in hand...

I would love to see some quick runs from Root, Buttler, Jordan, Rabbit and Ferret... and an early declaration from Captain Cook tomorrow

Keep batting, declare an hour before tea.

We would all like to see some runs from Jordan, Rabbit and Ferret but lets be honest, we all know it aint gonna happen. It all depends on whether Root and Branch can add a few before the customary rapid capitulation.

Brilliant work by Boycott on TMS... talking him up, claiming Buttler should have been in last night, will score quickly etc...

Buttler out stumped... 387-7

Hmm. Going to have to skittle WI out PDQ in their second innings if we are going to get a result out of this one now. Draw written all over it.

Wicket still looks ok so best thing that can happen as far as I'm concerned is these last wickets go relatively quickly, 125-150 run lead with 5 sessions still to go puts us very much as favourites for victory whereas if we carry on batting we'll go until tea at least and may find ourselves in the same situation as the 1st test.

I favour the option of plodding along at 2 an over and then declaring at 600/9 tomorrow at tea with a cheeky draw tucked in our back pockets. #teamCook

Root move past 2000 Test runs... the 2nd youngest Englishman to do so... after Alastair Cook :clap2:

Rain is due around the Lunch period, so more overs may be lost anyway. Cook has to be bold and declare well before Lunch and get a few overs in before that happens.

Ridiculously protracted 3rd umpire decision finally gives him out. Unbelievably inept. It was obvious with the naked eye, and from CJ's reaction. Unimpressive :nono:
