Joe Root 50* (69 balls) :clap2:

England 251-3 (90 overs)

That is Root's 6th consecutive score of 50+ in Test cricket... impressive :clap2:

Review against Ballance... LBW from round the wicket...

looks high... and it is (well clipping top of middle actually but stays with umpires call).

PHEW.

And that is tea... 253-3

31 overs, 110 runs, 2 wickets in the session

Root and Ballance have put on 89 for the 4th wicket.

England trail by 46, with 7 wickets in hand.

I've got it on. Bloody dull. I mean you may as well just scrap Test cricket now with pitches like this. We'll no doubt produce some shockingly flat tracks in the summer too. The games TV and money men are so worried about games not going 5 days, result pitches just seem to be so rare these days.

What will happen here? England will bat out today, probably until tea tomorrow if they can with 500 or so on the board, and the WI will bat our the 4 sessions again. Yawn-A-Thon.

33 overs left in the session, newish ball... England need another good session with the bat to push on towards a decent lead tonight... 350+ for 4 or 5 would be nice.

Gary Ballance 51* (127 balls, 5 fours and 1 six) :clap2:

He is 4th in the all time England run scorers after their first 10 Test matches... 912 runs and counting... ahead of everyone in the current generation.

Something to do in the quieter moments of this innings... and there are plenty!

I know, I've been trying to work with it on, but weirdly the duller it is, the more distracting it is. Bizarre. Who knows, this session they might even try to score at a giddy 3 an over!

Good batting now. Ballance and Root are the future, glad they've upped the run rate too was rather tepid before this partnership

Ballance toppled for 77

Loopy and full delivery from Samuels, lazy drive, drags it on.

329-4 (108 overs)
