West Ham to move into the Olympic Stadium in 2016

I disagree. I was not privy to the whole tender process so no idea if West Ham was really the best deal for the stadium and area as a whole so will leave that there. However, if West Ham really wanted the stadium they would have been willing to pay a far bigger proportion of the cost to transfer it to a workable football stadium (if a loan was needed from the Government/Local Authority then fair enough but at least something would have been given back). The analogy with the Landlord is fine but a Landlord would more than cover the cost of the bathroom over time through rent payments, West Ham are only paying £2 million a year which will be a hell of a long time (if ever) before it covers the costs of works to the stadium. Yes West Ham are getting a criminal good deal and that is not their fault but somewhere along the line something has gone very wrong.

That was the original deal rookie - West Ham agreed to buy the stadium with a loan from Newham Council - Daniel Levy blocked it claiming state aid as he is shitting himself that there will be another club in London that will be able to compete.

Its not just the £2 million a year - There is every other event they put in there - West Ham are essentially renting it for 25 days a year (the rest is down to the government to encourage other event) Then there is the naming rights which will be shared between the Government and West Ham (There would be no naming rights interest without a football club in there) I think its a good deal for the government and a good deal for West Ham given the almighty feck up of the original design anyway. West Ham will be paying £200 million in rent over 100 years plus the naming rights say the same again over 100 years plus all the other events it will host over 100 years and they will get their money back on the investment. This will probably be one of the few Olympic Stadiums World wide that will get its money back! As for Orient West HAm are on their doorstep anyway so dont see the issue - They get croeds of 2000 - are they seriously weanting to sit in a 60000 seat arena? No its just Hearn wants a pay off,. Orient could maybe move back to where they originally came from which was Clapham in South London!

The owners may benefit short term but long term the club will be financialy unstable.Upton Park is what 3 acres whats that worth ,i don`t know but they do appear to have a 91 million pound debt and are losing around 18 million a season.

What ? With that all so shrewd , i am so good at everything Karen Brady in charge , how can they make a loss ? 2012 she got voted best CEO of the year award at the football business awards ? Well we all learn something new everyday , perhaps she should relinquish her role in the Apprentice as she is not qualified enough.

Can see the two porn men and Brady doing quite well out of this and still the fans will suffer .:nono:

The analogy doesn't hold up if (and while I assume this to be the case, I don't know) without that work, the stadium was un-letable. Just to strain credibility a bit further, it's like owning a commercial premises and then converting it to residential - the owner has to cover the costs of conversion, but if that's the only way that they're going to realise any revenue out of it then that's what they'll do.

iirc the majority of costs for this are going to be incured anyway, removing a tier and other alterations. the fact that West Ham are going there is doing the site a favor as no one else could afford to put in anything or would use it for more than about 2 days a year. so it seems a bit unfair, but the alternative is an empty site where the tax payer has to pay upkeep for a half dozen one off events each year. Hearn is just pissed that he doesnt get to ground share with them, and to be fair he has a point as its how they use stadiums on the continent and would give more usage. but he doesnt think he should have to pay anything, so he's been turned down (i dont think there are any other objections, from West Ham or Olypmic park owners?).

i think we shouldnt throw too many stones as we got the Falmer site for a song off the council.

Just listening Karen Brady, she is talking utter shit, they will never fill that stadium, and they will give 100,000 tickets away to local kids
I am starting to feel sorry for Orient, even Barry Hearn who I cant stand

Rubbish - Its 54000 capacity. Thats like saying Brighton would never fill Falmer because they were playing to 7000. West Ham are an underachieving side - If they got success they would get more people through the gates. Do you remember Chelseas gates of 10k? 100k tickets given away to kids? How does that work on 54k stadium and West HAm have said they want to make football affordable again to the working man - surely thats a good thing? Orient could do teh same whats their capacity? They gets gates of 2k at the moment. Orient are buggered anyway and West Ham are moving within their own bourough and actually closer to their original home. So much misinformed opinions surrounding this!

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to knock it all down and stick up another new housing development ? A complete waste of taxpayer's money.

As tax payers funding their new stadium, do we all get discounted tickets when our clubs play there?

I hope it all goes tits up for them-dislike them almost as much as I hate Man U. Horrible fans, horrible club. If they pay for the stadium themselves I have no problem with them moving in. If WE, the UK tax payers subsidise their move then I have a massive problem with it. They can Google off.
