Ground gets sold to pay off massive debt,as the Hammers are living beyond there means in the Premier league. They will probably rent for a few years and then go bust

shame.

6-0 whilst sitting in the directors box with Dick Knight still hurts.

I really can't see how this is going to impact on Orient.
Because...
Because West Ham will be able to drastically drop prices.
The proximity of a big club with a massive stadium to a run down tin pot but cute club just down the road will have an impact on Orient.
But surely Orient fans aren't going to suddenly jump ship and start supporting WH because the prices are lower and they've got a bigger stadium.
It won't happen overnight, but if West Ham become a successful club again (and why shouldn't they), then anyone growing up nearby would be more likely to go and see them, than pay more to go and see Orient.

Anyway, if we didn't get the OS, there's plans afoot for a new purpose built stadium....surely this would have the same outcome ?
No, if you built a new stadium I wouldn't expect it to take so many fans, I wouldn't expect you to be able to sell the seats so cheaply, and I wouldn't expect to be so close to Orient.

Then there is the issue of the running track. I HATE grounds with running tracks. As I understand it, W.H. can't tear up the running track as part of the legacy deal.
Surely W.H will have a way of getting over the problem.

And funded by the taxpayer - absolutely disgraceful. Taxpayer 60 million WHU 15 Million.
This is the bit that gets me. Why are we paying for the ground. Brighton have paid a good £100m for our ground, but West Ham get one twice the size for £15m, when it cost over £300 to start with, and the taxpayer has to keep paying. This makes no sense at all.

West Ham will be able to afford to charge U18s just £1. That might just have an impact... :jester:

I wouldn't be surprised if West Ham come looking for Poyet in the summer. Doesn't seem like the powers that be at Upton Park are too keen on renewing Big Sam's contract

I really can't see how this is going to impact on Orient. For one thing, the clubs will almost certainly have to play their home games on alternative saturdays. I also understand that Mr Hearn has lost his bottle and dropped the legal action

Not according to Mr Hearn on talk sport 15 minutes ago.

If I were a West Ham fan I would not be happy.

Why dont they go and get a Tony and he will build them a new shiney one where they will be able to TONK their rivals 3-0 and the sun will shine and the birds will sing and the pies will be great and nice and hot and ....................Oh i digress, sorry.

Honestly don't get why Gov are putting up £60 mill and West Ham only £15 mill + £2 mill a year. If they want it they should have to pay the whole thing (conversion costs and the rent), personally think it is very wrong that they are getting a brand new 60,000 stadium for a minimal amount while all other clubs have to pay huge amounts. Hope Barry Hearn takes it all the way through the courts

They are potless, not a good career move for any manager

If they do move into the Olympic stadium they will get a shed-load of money from the sale of Upton Park to property developers. Plus the continuing millions from being a top flight team and parachute payments if they drop out. Wouldn't be surprised if they throw a bit of money around in the summer, whoever they have in charge. The likes of Nolan and Taylor will probably need replacing amongst others.

Think the government will be very relieved that they have a tennant liek West Ham. What do you think they would do with teh stadium otherwise? And if you are supporting the moneygrabbing slimball Hearn who just wants to Sell Brisbane Rd so he can get his money out and royally roger O's fans then you must have been an advocate of Bellotti's tenure of Brighton!

feel sorry for LO, and have little time for west ham - why can't they share it?

Indeed. I sincerely hope the Judicial Review stops the Porno Twins in their tracks, but I won't be holding my breath...

They should be renamed Taxpayers United- and EVERY taxpayer should get cheap admission. On the other hand, with a bit of luck they'll get relegated the year before they move- then see what crowds they get!

Clueless! Barry Hearn wants something for nothing so he can asset strip Brisbane Rd

And the upstanding Gold & Sullivan aren't in it for their own ends? I think you should broaden your knowledge base if you think Wet Spam's intentions are all sweetness & light.
