Has KP ever gone over 2 years without scoring a run for england in competitive matches? Has KP been out injured then not hit the ball since returning?

What are you going on about !

Have you forgotten Rooney's two year period without a competitive goal for England? Kept playing, kept failing to score. Kepting getting picked because he's wayne rooney, our star player, it's only a matter of time. Two years later he finally scored.

The arguments for dropping him aren't as laughable as some people think.

Man like keaton told me last night that Rooney hasn't scored since MARCH.

MARCH.

Nor had Fabiano.....neither had defoe....neither has Torres scored for Spain in god knows how long....i could mention more

You think Brazil...or Spain wont be playing these players....come the knock out stages in the big games...

You all must be hungover from celebrating last night still...

I thougt he linked up with Gerrard very well yesterday. He didn't look too sluggish when he chased down their right back and won the ball either. I think we're just so used to his normal high standards that anything less gets slated as 'making no contribution'.

Obviously he starts but what's wrong with subbing him if he is playing like a cunt?

You just don't sub a player like Rooney in my opinion, even if he is playing like a twat he is liable to spark and win you the game in an instant.

Argentina have 6 strikers all of them would walk into our starting 11 yet Messi will never be replaced...even if he is playing like a twat.

Pull his finger out.... ? Are you suggesting he is not trying ?

Thats the last thing you could accuse Rooney of.

You could, however, accuse him of being ever so slighty out of form. I really think the team as a whole would benefit from someone else being given a go. Crouch to start and then a properly motivated Rooney to come on at half time (I'm not saying Rooney isn't putting the effort in, I just think he needs to focus).

Because Heskey is the only option if we drop Rooney? No, of course not.

Play Crouch and Defoe who do well together. Crouch, who has a 21 goals in 40ish(?) games, all of them coming in games in which he starts. While we still have Gerrard and defoe (joint top scorers for england in the competition this year, so far), Lampard (top scoring midfielder in the premier league), Terry (always a threat from corners and almost scored yesterday), Milner, Cole, all of whom can be a threat to the goal.

Rooney isn't our only hope, and to treat him as such is part of the problem, putting him under so much pressure he can crack.

I think a knockout game against Germany is enough to get him focussed and motivated, if he even needed that anyway! Besides an out if form Rooney is still better than the other options.

Yep, I'd definitely drop Rooney and partner the two Tottenham boys up front. Bringing Rooney on in the second half would have the boy fired up and eager to impress and, maybe, score a goal or two?

I am not sure he always plays for the team to be honest. I didn't think I would ever write that about Rooney - but twice last night he could have played Milner in - but chose not to, and there are rumours from the camp about him being a bit prima-donna. I think if it had been his mate Stevie - he would have passed. I have nothing more to back it up - but it is just a feeling that he needs a shot across his bows and know that England expects.

The exact same thing was said in the pub last night. In the second half Milner was in acres of space and had a great chance if Rooney had put him in. Instead Rooney TURNED ROUND and looked for Gerrard and then lost the ball.
